Job Description

Job Title:
Receiving Associate - Lead Operator Job Description The receiving associate - lead operator oversees daily operations on the receiving dock, leading a small team while actively performing hands-on receiving, documentation, and inventory control tasks. This working lead serves as the primary contact for drivers and supports the department manager by ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient handling of all inbound materials. Responsibilities Lead a small team of 3-5 employees on the receiving dock while actively performing daily receiving tasks. Serve as the primary point of contact on the receiving dock for drivers and internal stakeholders. Ensure accurate recording and disposal of scrap each day and complete all required rework at the end of each shift. Check, verify, and inspect all incoming shipments to ensure accuracy and quality. Confirm packing lists and bills of lading against materials received on the dock. Create and apply labels for all incoming loads to maintain clear identification and traceability. Scan all loads using handheld RF scanners to update inventory and receiving records. Enter receipts accurately into IQMS or other ERP and computer-based tracking systems. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all received materials and related documentation. Identify and resolve discrepancies in shipments by contacting Planners and other relevant personnel as needed. Support inventory control activities, including tracking incoming shipments and maintaining stockroom accuracy. Assist with unloading, loading, wrapping, palletizing, and staging materials for production or storage. Operate material handling equipment such as sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently. Support order pulling, picking, packing, sorting, and replenishment activities as required to keep production supplied. Follow all safety procedures on the dock and in the warehouse, including proper use of required PPE. Collaborate with production and planning teams to ensure materials reach the production area on time to keep operations running. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve receiving accuracy, efficiency, and organization. Essential Skills Proven experience performing receiving duties in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Experience leading or acting as a working lead in a receiving or warehouse setting, coordinating a small team. Hands-on experience operating a sit-down forklift (experience preferred and strongly desired). Experience tracking incoming shipments using computer-based tracking systems or ERP software. Ability to use handheld RF scanners for scanning loads and updating inventory records. Competence in entering receipts and transactions into systems such as IQMS, SAP, or similar ERP platforms. Strong attention to detail for verifying packing lists, bills of lading, and shipment accuracy. Ability to stand for the entirety of the shift as needed. Ability to lift 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally. Experience with core warehouse activities such as shipping and receiving, loading, unloading, palletizing, and wrapping. Basic computer skills to manage labels, records, and system entries. Experience working in a manufacturing environment with time-sensitive deadlines to keep production supplied. Commitment to safety and adherence to warehouse and production floor safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with IQMS, SAP, or other ERP software used for inventory and receiving. Experience in international shipping or complex shipping documentation is beneficial. Experience with warehouse pick/pack, order pulling, order picking, and packaging operations. Familiarity with inventory control, stockroom operations, and replenishment processes. Experience using pallet jacks, power jacks, and other material handling equipment. Ability to work effectively as a working lead, balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on tasks. Strong communication skills to interact with drivers, Planners, and internal teams. Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with overtime and changing priorities. Previous experience in environments where accurate labeling, scanning, and documentation are critical. Work Environment The facility operates multiple shifts, with a first shift typically running from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and a second shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with overtime expected and occasional weekend work, averaging around 50 hours per week. The work environment is bright and organized, though some production areas can feel cramped due to efficient use of space. The facility is not air conditioned, so temperatures near the machines can become hot during the summer months. Employees work on and around the receiving dock, warehouse, and production areas using equipment such as sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, power jacks, RF scanners, and ERP systems like IQMS or SAP. Safety glasses and closed-toe shoes are required in production areas, and gloves are provided in certain areas where needed.
