Overview Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Receiving Verify incoming goods against purchase orders, freight bills, delivery tickets, and other documentation, including part numbers, quantities, descriptions, weights, and dimensions. Report damaged materials or discrepancies to Customer Service. Accurately count items manually or by using a scale. Prepare purchase orders for subcontracted work. Respond to and expedite rush orders and other conditions affecting workflow. Complete identification tags and attach them to the appropriate products. Transport products to designated areas using a forklift, pallet jack, or other material-handling equipment. Shipping Verify finished products against the corresponding shipping documentation. Select appropriate packaging based on the product and shipping method. Determine the appropriate method of shipment. Schedule common-carrier pickups as needed. Collaborate with the Shipping and Receiving/Traffic Supervisor to efficiently plan weekly company-truck stops. Coordinate the loading of company trucks to maximize space and route efficiency. Complete all required shipment documentation. Obtain credit approval from Customer Service for any shipment requiring review. Maintain accurate clerical records related to shipping and receiving activities. Education and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Ability to safely operate a forklift and pallet jack. Ability to accurately count products and review shipping and receiving documentation. Physical Requirements Must be able to frequently bend, lift, kneel, and twist. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance. Must be able to climb stairs and safely operate a forklift. Must be able to alternate between sitting and standing throughout the workday. Must be able to frequently lift materials and move heavy carts. Work Environment and Potential Hazards Regular exposure to sharp skid corners, utility knives, sharp tools, ladders, moving heavy loads, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment.
