Job Description
Great Plains Manufacturing in Salina is seeking a 1st Shift Parts Shipper to join our GP Ag Parts Department in Salina to receive, store, assemble, distribute, and route parts and products. This position works on-site in Salina Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., plus occasional overtime as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Compare identifying information and counts, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Read customer order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Assemble customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or convey orders to packing station or shipping station. Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Insert items into containers. Nail covers on wooden crates and bind containers with metal tape. Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencil identifying shipping information on cartons. Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers. Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Unpack and examine incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Convey materials and items from receiving or parts department areas to storage or to other designated areas. Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Operate tier lift truck or use handtruck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area. Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Weigh or count items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards. Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications. Drive vehicle to transport stored items from parts department to plant or to pick up items from several locations for receiving or shipment. Monitor parts department tasks and recommends quality improvement initiatives to the parts department manager. Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment. Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and documents such as safety rules and operating/maintenance/procedure manuals Ability to safely operate a forklift, lift truck and other vehicles; forklift certification preferred Ability to write correspondence Ability to perform basic math skills, including addition, subtraction and multiplication Strong attention to detail and ability to track multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions At Great Plains Manufacturing, our people make the difference, making our company a great place to work and grow.
