A Shipping or Receiving Clerk tracks all incoming and/or outgoing shipments at a company facility and checks that shipment orders are filled correctly. Uses scanning equipment to track inventory. Works in receiving to check shipments that are primarily production materials or company supplies, or checks outgoing shipments of finished products.

Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION
Under direct supervision, verifies and keeps records on outgoing material. Performs tasks to ship, pick, store, load, and pack materials as needed.
MAJOR DUTIES
1. Picks material for parts orders. Verifies identification of part and quantity required. Packs material for safe shipment to customers. 2. Operates forklifts, hydraulic hand pallet trucks, and electric hoists to load and unload materials as needed. 3. Prepares all necessary paperwork and documentation for the processing of work orders and the shipment of parts orders. 4. Develops and maintains a good working relationship with all internal departments and with all outside suppliers and service providers. 5. Cycle counts inventory as needed. 6. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
A general knowledge of material handling is required. Experience in the operation of forklifts, pallet trucks and electric hoists are preferred. Skills may be gained through on-the-job training and/or specialized training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent climbing, bending, twisting and/or lifting approximately 55 pounds (and periodically heavier loads approximately 80 pounds) will be required.
