Overview This is a Full Time (40 hour) position, and the job description is likely to shift over time. This position will be a part of the core Web Orders and Receiving, Returns and Shipping teams. Responsibilities The specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assisting the Web Team Supervisor with the timely and accurate gathering of books ordered online, and routing orders to await completion, in-store pickup, or to be shipped out. Beginning-to-end reception, processing, and mailing of Harvard Book Store gift cards ordered on our website. Contacting customers as orders are completed and ready for pickup. Fielding and responding to customer queries—emailed or phoned—about outstanding orders and orders in transit; drawing in other staff from various departments as necessary. Responding to queries from staff on stock, order status, and other issues. Timely and accurate receiving and routing of stock and associated documentation Daily acceptance (or rejection, when necessary) of shipments as they arrive; assisting in unloading shipments from trucks and in loading them into the store and sorting them preparatory to receiving. Moving merchandise between the store and the Arrow Street office as necessary. Assisting booksellers in locating specific items among those recently received. Regular contact with the department Supervisor, Store Managers, the Buying Manager, and the Marketing Manager, regarding any questions about the accuracy of the Inventory database. In coordination with other RRS Staff, sorting and daily delivery of mail and packages. Orderliness and cleanliness of all relevant work spaces. Coordination with the Store Managers, Web Team Supervisor, and RRS Supervisor Of their vacation or other days away from work, with the object that at least two RRS Assistants are present during regular work hours. This person will also be asked, as needed for coverage, to assist with: Processing web orders. Picking, Processing, and Shipping books for returns. Sorting and Shelving received books. Bookselling on the main sales floor. Other duties as requested. Reliability and punctuality are key, and self-starting is essential: this person needs to know where to pick up each day without awaiting specific instructions. Initiating daily communication with the RRS and Web Order Supervisors is absolutely necessary in reaching a collective sense of that day's priorities, and how their work time should be divided. The candidate must be able to lift boxes up to 50 pounds.

This position will work 9:00AM-5:30PM Monday through Friday.
