Shipping and Receiving Specialist Job Description This role oversees day-to-day shipping and receiving operations within a fast-paced manufacturing warehouse, ensuring accurate, timely movement of materials and finished goods. You will coordinate inbound and outbound deliveries, manage carrier shipments, maintain inventory accuracy, and perform hands-on packaging and material handling while using SAP and Excel to track and document all activities. Responsibilities Coordinate and execute daily shipping and receiving activities within the warehouse, ensuring all incoming and outgoing shipments are processed accurately and on time. Schedule and receive deliveries using SAP and Excel, verifying shipment details against purchase orders and delivery documentation. Manage small parcel shipments through carriers such as FedEx and UPS, including preparing labels, documentation, and tracking information. Sit at the warehouse shipping door to monitor and control the flow of goods, providing hands-on support for packaging, staging, and loading shipments. Perform hands-on packaging of products and materials, ensuring items are packed securely and labeled correctly for shipment. Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move pallets, materials, and finished goods throughout the warehouse and shipping/receiving area. Use RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) to scan, track, and update inventory movements and locations. Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory control activities to maintain accurate stock levels and reconcile discrepancies. Pull and stage orders for shipment, including order picking, packing, and verifying quantities and item accuracy. Handle general labor and material handling duties as needed, such as loading and unloading trucks, palletizing, and organizing warehouse areas. Perform data entry in Excel and SAP to record shipments, receipts, inventory transactions, and other logistics-related information. Support logistics and warehouse operations by communicating effectively with production, inventory, and other departments in a fast-paced, production-based environment. Maintain compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and warehouse safety standards, including proper use of equipment and adherence to dress code requirements such as steel-toe footwear. Assist with other warehouse duties as assigned to support overall operational efficiency and team goals. Essential Skills At least 3 years of experience in shipping and receiving within a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Strong forklift operating skills with proven experience handling pallets and materials safely and efficiently. Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes, including packaging, order pulling, and logistics coordination. Proficiency using SAP for scheduling, receiving, and tracking deliveries and inventory movements. Proficiency using Microsoft Excel for data entry, tracking shipments, and maintaining records. Experience working with warehouse inventory control, including cycle counts and inventory reconciliation. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners for tracking and managing inventory. Experience with packaging, warehouse packing, and preparing shipments for carriers. Knowledge of logistics and order fulfillment processes in a production-based environment. Ability to perform material handling and general labor duties in a fast-paced warehouse setting. Ability to communicate effectively within a production and warehouse team environment. Ability to work safely in a GMP-regulated manufacturing facility and follow established procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing company that produces flavors, oils, or other food-related or chemical products. Experience in warehouse inventory management and inventory control within a shipping and receiving department. Experience coordinating shipments with carriers such as FedEx and UPS, including label creation and tracking. Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environments and related documentation requirements. Comfort working in a medium-sized manufacturing organization with a smaller, close-knit shipping and receiving department. The environment is fast-paced and production-based, with frequent communication between warehouse, production, and other departments. You will work primarily in the shipping and receiving department, which is a smaller, focused team within the facility. The position is full-time with core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. You will be located inside the warehouse near the shipping door, handling both administrative and hands-on tasks. The facility operates under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), requiring adherence to strict cleanliness, safety, and process standards. Warehouse operations rely on forklifts, RF scanners, SAP, WMS, and Excel for daily tasks. The dress code includes safety-focused attire, and steel-toe footwear is required to ensure protection in the warehouse environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Abingdon, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
