Job Title:
Freight Shipping Clerk Job Description The Freight Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating and processing all outgoing shipments, ensuring accurate documentation, proper packaging, and timely delivery. This role works closely with freight carriers and internal systems to manage shipping details, supports warehouse operations such as picking, packing, and receiving, and helps maintain an organized and efficient distribution process. Responsibilities Coordinate all outgoing freight shipments and ensure accuracy between the freight management system and the internal warehouse system. Enter and verify delivery addresses, pallet dimensions, and weights to determine and coordinate appropriate shipping costs. Create and print shipping labels for parcel and freight shipments, including FedEx and UPS. Package products securely for shipment, including boxing, labeling, shrink wrapping, and banding pallets as needed. Lift and move packages and materials up to 40 lbs safely throughout the workday. Perform order picking duties as needed, selecting parts such as washers, frames, stickers, decals, belts, bearings, and other components from warehouse inventory. Use a push cart to pick products throughout the warehouse according to pick lists and customer orders. Operate an RF scanner to scan picked products into a laptop or warehouse management system for tracking and inventory control. Pack and label picked products accurately for shipment to dealerships and other customers. Assist with receiving incoming products once trained, including unloading, checking, and recording inventory. Perform bin transfers in the warehouse management system by placing small parts into bins, scanning them, and transferring them into the new system. Support inventory control activities such as cycle counts and verification of inbound and outbound inventory. Use pallet jacks and other basic warehouse equipment to move pallets and materials safely. Help unload containers and inbound freight as needed to support warehouse operations. Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient warehouse area and follow all safety procedures and guidelines. Essential Skills At least 2 years of freight shipping experience, including coordinating outbound shipments. Strong proficiency with freight shipping systems, especially FedEx Freight Manager. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs on a regular basis. Basic computer skills and comfort working with warehouse management systems. Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse environment. Knowledge of freight management and parcel shipping using carriers such as FedEx and UPS. Ability to use RF scanners for picking and inventory transactions. Capability to operate pallet jacks and handle pallets safely. Attention to detail when entering shipment information, labeling packages, and verifying addresses, weights, and dimensions. Reliable work habits and ability to follow established procedures and safety guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with inventory control activities, including cycle counts and bin transfers. Experience in order picking and packing within a pick-and-pack distribution environment. Familiarity with SAP or similar warehouse or inventory management systems. Experience with inbound and outbound freight processes, including unloading and receiving. Comfort working with small parts and components and maintaining accurate records. Flexibility to assist in other warehouse areas such as kitting and unloading containers as needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a small, organized, temperature-controlled warehouse setting. The standard schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours. Team members work with warehouse management systems, RF scanners, pallet jacks, push carts, and computers to manage inventory and shipping. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and efficient workflows while maintaining a relaxed and collaborative atmosphere. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
