Job Description

The Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving, inspecting, documenting, and processing incoming materials, components, tooling, and supplies to support production in a precision machining and defense manufacturing environment. This position ensures all incoming shipments meet company quality standards, contractual requirements, and applicable government regulations while maintaining accurate inventory records and full material traceability. The Receiving Clerk plays a critical role in supporting AS9100, ITAR, CMMC, DFARS, and customer-specific quality requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receive incoming shipments from carriers and verify quantities against packing slips and purchase orders. Inspect incoming materials for visible damage, correct part numbers, quantities, certifications, and compliance documentation. Verify material certifications, Certificates of Conformance (C of C), mill certifications, and other required documentation. Ensure complete lot traceability and identification of all received materials. Enter receiving transactions into the ERP system (JobBOSS, Epicor, SAP, or similar). Label and identify incoming materials according to company procedures. Coordinate with Quality Assurance for incoming inspections when required. Notify Purchasing of shortages, damaged materials, incorrect shipments, or nonconforming products. Maintain organized receiving and quarantine areas. Prepare materials for stocking or delivery to production. Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely. Maintain accurate receiving records in accordance with company procedures. Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices when applicable. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the receiving process. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment following 5S principles. Perform other duties as assigned. Defense Industry Responsibilities Ensure compliance with: AS9100 Quality Management System requirements ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) DFARS requirements CMMC cybersecurity practices related to controlled information Government contract material traceability requirements Protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Maintain chain of custody for government-owned property when applicable. Report discrepancies involving government-controlled materials immediately. Follow company OPSEC and security procedures. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 2 years of receiving, warehouse, inventory, or manufacturing experience. Experience using ERP or inventory management software. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documentation. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday. Preferred Qualifications Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing. Experience with AS9100 quality systems. Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification). Experience using JobBOSS, Epicor, Oracle, SAP, or similar ERP systems. Familiarity with material certifications and traceability requirements. Understanding of ISO 9001 or AS9100 documentation. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent attention to detail. Strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic math skills for counting and inventory verification. Strong problem-solving abilities. Physical Requirements Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, stoop, reach, and climb as necessary. Operate material handling equipment. Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures. Work Environment Climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled manufacturing areas. Exposure to machine shop operations and warehouse traffic.
