Job Description
Position Summary The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading trucks and trailers. This position ensures accurate handling of materials, proper stacking and staging, and safe operation of material handling equipment. The role supports operations by organizing freight, maintaining a clean work area, and assisting with basic inventory tasks. In this role, the Shipping and Receiving will report to Division Manager. Vision Statement To be recognized as the leader in metal cleaning and coating. Duties and Responsibilities Load and unload trucks, trailers, and freight containers safely and efficiently. Load and unload trucks using manual handling or equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts). Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy, condition, and quantity. Properly stack, wrap, and/or secure materials to prevent damage during transport. Sort and store material in designated locations. Move materials as needed to support receiving, production, or shipping. Take pictures of incoming material and upload them into correct Sales Order/item as it is offloaded and ensure items are tagged. Review the material at the facility daily to ensure each item is tagged and the tags are legible. Reprint tags as needed to ensure items are clearly marked. Receive customer parts within Steelhead or coordinate with a second team member to receive them in Steelhead, so the incoming pictures may be uploaded to the Sale Order. If a Sale Order cannot be created, the incoming picture should be uploaded to the received item. Take pictures of outgoing material and upload them into correct Sales Order/Packing List as it is loaded onto the truck. Verify quantities, items, and quality of incoming purchased material. A copy of the documentation received is to be uploaded into Steelhead on the Purchase Order. Tags are to be printed from Steelhead once the items are received in. If an item is received that is not on purchase order, notify a manager or Financial Specialist. Report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged materials promptly to Division Manager and/or Quality. Maintain a clean, organized receiving area. Operate equipment safely This position safeguards Colonial's information network with user access privileges. Any other duties assigned Skills & Qualifications Experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations Ability to read packing slips, purchase orders, and work orders Ability to safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision. Ability to lift-up to 50 pounds Must be 18 years of age or older
