We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Shipping & Receiving Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for ensuring inbound and outbound materials are accurately received, documented, staged, and shipped. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and a commitment to accuracy, safety, and customer service. Responsibilities:
Verify incoming and outgoing materials for accuracy, including quantities, dimensions, and material specifications Prepare materials for shipment through packaging, banding, labeling, and securing loads Process shipping and receiving documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading, and carrier paperwork Enter shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions into company systems accurately Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently Inspect materials for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues as needed Coordinate customer pickups and assist with freight carrier interactions Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Support team members and adapt to changing operational needs Qualifications:
Prior warehouse, shipping, receiving, manufacturing, or industrial experience preferred Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, packing slips, and inventory records Basic computer skills and experience working within inventory or warehouse systems Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues proactively Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs, bend, and stand throughout the shift Reliable, punctual, and ready to work daily Must live within commuting distance to Kent, Ohio Preferred:
Forklift and/or overhead crane experience Previous experience in a steel service center or industrial distribution environment Experience processing shipments through carrier or logistics software Familiarity with inventory management systems Understanding of warehouse safety protocols and material handling procedures Shift Availability:
We are currently hiring for the following shifts: 1st Shift Monday through Friday, Weekends as needed 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM 2nd Shift Monday through Friday, Weekends as needed 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM Applicants should indicate their preferred shift when applying. Shift placement will be based on experience, qualifications, and business needs. Schedule:
