Shift:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Position Summary The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for the accurate, timely, and safe processing of inbound and outbound materials. This role verifies incoming shipments, prepares and stages outbound orders, and maintains inventory accuracy using the company's ERP/WMS system. This position plays a key role in supporting on-time delivery and production continuity by ensuring materials are received, stored, and shipped correctly, and by maintaining a safe, organized shipping and receiving area. Key Responsibilities 1. Receiving Operations Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips. Identify and report damaged, mislabeled, or short-shipped materials. Accurately enter receiving transactions into the ERP/WMS system. Stage and put away received materials in designated storage locations. 2. Shipping Operations Pick, pack, and prepare outbound orders according to customer and carrier requirements. Generate and verify shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and labels. Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and ensure on-time shipment. Safely load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment. 3. Inventory Accuracy Maintain accurate inventory counts through regular cycle counts and reconciliation. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner. Properly label, organize, and store materials to support accurate tracking. 4. Safety and Compliance Operate all material handling equipment safely and in compliance with company policy. Follow all safety rules, including proper lifting techniques and PPE requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and receiving area.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. 2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations required. Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Forklift certification required, or ability to obtain certification. Proficiency with ERP/WMS systems and basic computer skills (Excel, email). Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. Ability to read and interpret packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping labels. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills for coordinating with carriers and internal departments. Performance Metrics Shipping and receiving accuracy rate. On-time shipment rate. Inventory accuracy and cycle count results. Safety compliance record. Working Conditions Warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods. Regular use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) required in designated areas.
