None Job Summary BICO Steel is seeking organized and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Personnel to manage incoming and outgoing goods, materials, and finished products. This role supports the smooth, accurate, and timely movement of products and materials in and out of BICO while maintaining records, coordinating shipments, supporting production priorities, and keeping the shipping and receiving area clean, organized, and safe. Key Responsibilities Perform all shipping and receiving duties required to support incoming and outgoing materials, supplies, parts, and finished goods Organize and maintain accurate records in the Shipping and Receiving office Use available resources to pack, schedule, and ship all items moving in and out of BICO Prioritize paperwork for packers and provide daily direction to BICO Utility workers on packing priorities Review SNLT dates, ship dates, and on-dock dates to help ensure jobs ship on time Work with supervisors to schedule daily BICO truck deliveries and set delivery priorities when needed Arrange carrier pickups based on price, delivery timing, and shipment requirements Gather jobs and deliver them to Utility workers to support efficient packing and reduce time spent searching for steel Prepare work orders to be sent into the manufacturing area with all required documentation Receive completed work orders from the shop and process them as needed Track subcontracted work orders and update supervisors on status using spreadsheets or posted information in the shipping office Perform visual inspections and piece counts of parts before packing, then complete a final visual inspection after packing with digital shipment documentation Follow receiving and shipping process maps to ensure products are received and shipped correctly Load and unload items being shipped or received using forklifts, tow motors, cranes, or other required equipment Monitor scrap bin levels and schedule steel scrap trucks as needed Required Qualifications Prior experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, retail, shipping, receiving, or logistics environment Forklift or tow motor experience; certification may be required within the first few weeks of employment Ability to operate cranes or willingness to become proficient in crane operation as required Strong verbal and written communication skills Basic clerical skills, including email, data entry, spreadsheets, and recordkeeping Computer experience, including Microsoft Office such as Excel and Word Ability to use shop tools such as tape measures, micrometers, and verniers Understanding of shipping terminology, carrier requirements, and trucking requirements Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a steel service center, heavy manufacturing, fabrication, machining, or similar industrial environment Experience with inventory management systems or warehouse management systems Experience coordinating carriers, delivery schedules, shipment documentation, or subcontracted work orders Skills & Competencies Self-motivated and able to start and complete projects independently Cooperative team player with strong people skills and a positive attitude Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented when handling paperwork, materials, and shipments Able to communicate professionally with customers, vendors, supervisors, truck drivers, and coworkers Able to prioritize work in a fast-paced shipping, receiving, and production environment Willing to work the hours needed to complete daily job requirements Work Environment & Physical Requirements Shipping, receiving, warehouse, and manufacturing environment with exposure to steel materials, trucks, forklifts, cranes, machinery, noise, and production activity Regularly load, unload, move, inspect, count, pack, and document materials and finished goods Maintain a clean, organized, clutter-free, and safe work area and office Work in conjunction with BICO divisions, supervisors, sales managers, sales personnel, management, customers, vendors, truck drivers, and production teams Use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hat, and other required safety equipment Must follow all company safety procedures while working around heavy materials, equipment, trucks, and production employees Compensation & Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Union Status This position is part of a union shop represented by Local Union No. 2L-19 in Ohio.
