Job Description

Bericap is a privately held family-owned company founded in 1926, and is one of the leading manufacturers of plastic closures for food, beverage and industrial markets. As a result of continued growth Bericap SC, LLC has a full-time, hourly opening for a Lead Shipper/Receiver reporting to the Warehouse Manager . The purpose of this role is to utilize the team effectively to maintain the flow of inbound and outbound raw material, WIP and finished goods while maintaining a clean and orderly dock area and warehouse space. General Responsibilities Ensures that all work undertaken is carried out safely and without injury Ensures Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are followed at all times (no jewelry, cell phone, nicotine in any form, etc.) Ensures all quality, food safety, safety, environmental as well as all other Company policies and procedures are followed Ensure that all quality, food safety, safety, and environmental issues are reported to the appropriate manager or supervisor Housekeeping duties performed throughout the shift Ability to lift 35 pounds unassisted and while standing/walking for duration of shift Develop, implement and support Continuous Improvement Programs Initiates corrective action for non-conformances Identify opportunities for improvement and enter into See It, Sort It, Report It system Able and willing to wear appropriate PPE as required Duties as assigned per Warehouse Manager Team Lead Guidance Provide back-up coverage for the Warehouse Manager when required Monitor workload demand between inbound/outbound and internal material handling and assign employees tasks accordingly Access daily requirements, identify and communicate possible challenges and suggest solutions Monitor the PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) checklists daily and notify supervisor if any service or repairs have been identified Perform daily GEMBA walks, identify opportunities and notify supervisor Monitor department training status, allocate necessary time for individuals to complete within time allotment Maintain clear communication with the entire team Support the shipping/receiving functions Location Planning Reference all available resources to identify space requirements for production volumes to assign rack locations Provide direction to Material Handlers to ensure products are stored in the appropriate locations Identify and implement product consolidating opportunities Communication Maintain clear communication with the entire team Facilitate incoming and outgoing shift change handoff Other Maintain docks and warehouse free of clutter and garbage Follow the 5S practices Ensure product is not left in drive aisles Comply with policies and procedures; work rules, quality, GMPs, Food Safety, etc. Completes training requirements as assigned within the allotted time period Assist with cycle counting requirements Assist with training new and existing employees Assist with off hour emergencies Skills Must have good mathematical, oral/written communication and computer skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Excellent organizational skills Demonstrates leadership skills Experience 2 years shipping/receiving experience is preferred 2 years Powered Industrial Vehicle experience required Training experience for forklift certification preferred Education High school diploma preferred About Bericap Bericap is a privately held family-owned company founded in 1926, and is one of the leading manufacturers of plastic closures for food, beverage and industrial markets.
