Job Description Shipping Clerk Duties and Responsibilities:
Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials; accurately plan and schedule incoming and outbound shipments; interact with delivery drivers, managers, and associates. Determine shipping method, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments; organize outbound shipments in the Warehouse for pickup; ensure correct labeling on outgoing product. Prepare documents, such as, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials. Record shipment data such as weight, charges, space availability, damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes. Operate material handling equipment including pallet wrapper. Notify appropriate personnel of quality issues. Enter receiving and shipping information into CAMs. Notify end user of incoming products. Maintain clean shipping/receiving areas including docks, inventory organization, and racking. Participate in cycle counting and reporting along with monthly inventory accounting. Cross train to back up warehouse employees. Will participate in all warehouse inventories. Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Qualifications:
High School Diploma required. 1 to 3 years of experience with
CAMS/SAP
preferred. Hands on inventory experience preferred. 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Previous warehouse experience and equipment use preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English and perform basic math skills. Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast paced environment. Excellent dependability and reliability. Ability to work quickly and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy. Must be self-motivated. Strong organizational skills. Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills. Ability to perform multiple projects. Great problem solving skills. Familiarity with manufacturing warehouse environment. Ability to work effectively as a team player. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime as needed.
PPE Required:
Steel/composite toe shoes required. Safety glasses required.
Physical Demands/ Environmental Condition:
Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs. This position could involve sitting, standing, walking, stooping, reaching, and lifting.
Work Location/Environmental Conditions:
Typical warehouse environment. Extreme temperatures possible.
