Work casual (khakis or similar + collared shirt; no jeans) Position Overview Virginia Commonwealth University Health System is seeking a Receiving Specialist to support daily shipping, receiving, and inventory operations. This role requires a strong customer service mindset, reliability, and comfort with physical job demands. Interviews will be held in person, and parking is not provided on-site. Key Responsibilities + Package Receiving — Receive and verify incoming purchase orders using MMIS. + Package Research — Investigate packages without purchase orders and resolve quickly. + Inventory Maintenance — Clean, organize, and secure inventory areas. + Transport & Delivery — Deliver packages to internal customers and verify delivery accuracy. + Loading & Unloading — Safely load, unload, wrap, and prepare items using pallet jacks. + Documentation — Record incoming and outgoing shipments accurately. + DEI Commitment — Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives through daily interactions. Required Qualifications + High School Diploma or equivalent. + Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly with customers. + Basic computer or handheld device proficiency. + Ability to meet physical demands: lifting 0-100+ lbs, bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, pushing/pulling, and prolonged standing/walking. Preferred Qualifications + Warehouse Experience — 1 year of warehouse or supply chain experience. Working Conditions + Exposure to weather (hot, cold, dust, wind). + High noise levels and bright lights. + Periods of high stress, interruptions, and working alone. + May involve access to medications or related supplies. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
