Qualified Staffing is hiring an experienced Shipping & Receiving Clerk for a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity with a manufacturing operation in Richmond, VA. This is more than a basic warehouse position. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk will coordinate incoming and outgoing materials, pick and process production and customer orders, maintain inventory accuracy, operate multiple types of forklifts, and work closely with production, purchasing, engineering, and customer service teams.
What You'll DoPick and pull materials for customer sales orders, manufacturing work orders, and engineering requests.
Receive incoming materials, verify quantities and documentation, label products, and place inventory into designated stocking locations.
Accurately record inventory transactions using RF scanners, warehouse software, and desktop computer systems.
Pack customer orders for parcel and LTL shipments according to established packaging requirements.
Process outbound shipments using applicable shipping and logistics software.
Operate sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers to move and retrieve materials throughout the facility.
Complete put-away activities and verify that materials are stored in the correct inventory locations.
Review orders for part numbers, quantities, dimensions, serial numbers, and other specifications before shipment.
Accurately label customer orders, work orders, materials, and finished shipments.
Investigate inventory discrepancies and coordinate corrections with the appropriate departments.
Monitor material availability and notify production planning or leadership of shortages that could impact an order.
Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventory activities to maintain inventory accuracy.
Use weight-counting equipment and other inventory tools to verify quantities.
Sort and organize materials on racks, shelves, and bins according to established inventory locations.
Process returned materials and associated documentation, including RMAs, as required.
Assist with packing, staging, loading, and movement of finished products.
Coordinate with Production Control, Purchasing, Engineering, Shipping, and Customer Service to keep orders moving efficiently.
Help expedite parts through production when necessary to meet customer requirements.
Communicate with Customer Service regarding special-handling orders, difficult-to-identify components, and serial-number requirements.
Monitor the quality and condition of products being prepared for shipment.
Complete all required shipping, receiving, inventory, and production documentation accurately and on time.
Assist with training new team members and provide operational support to coworkers when needed.
Help troubleshoot shipping, receiving, inventory, and material-flow issues.
Provide additional departmental support during supervisor absences when requested.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and material-handling environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking ForHigh school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 2 years of warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory, or material-handling experience required.
Experience operating sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers strongly preferred.
Experience using RF scanners or warehouse inventory systems.
Previous experience supporting a manufacturing or production environment is highly preferred.
Familiarity with LTL and small-package shipping processes is a plus.
Strong inventory control and material-tracking skills.
Basic computer and data-entry proficiency.
Strong basic math skills and ability to accurately count and verify inventory.
Ability to read work orders, part numbers, purchase orders, shipping documents, and related information.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Ability to prioritize multiple orders and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Dependable, organized, and committed to accuracy and quality.
Physical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to lift, push, or pull up to 35 pounds independently and heavier materials with assistance.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including up to 8+ hours as required.
Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, climbing, and material handling throughout the workday.
Comfortable operating powered industrial equipment and working at heights when using appropriate equipment.
Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing and warehouse environment.
Ability to work in confined spaces when required.
Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, and gloves.
Ability to work overtime when business or production needs require it.
