Job Description

Position Summary:
The Food Distribution Manager provides leadership and oversight for all food acquisition, inventory management, warehousing, volunteer coordination, and food distribution activities of Lutheran Social Services of Alaska (LSSA). This position ensures that nutritious food is distributed safely, efficiently to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity throughout Southcentral Alaska. The Food Distribution Manager oversees the daily operations of LSSA's food pantry, mobile food distribution efforts, food rescue partnerships, and community food assistance programs. The position is responsible for maintaining compliance with food safety regulations, managing inventory systems, supervising volunteers, cultivating community partnerships, and ensuring exceptional customer service for pantry participants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Food Pantry Operations Manage the day-to-day operations of LSSA's food pantry and food distribution programs. Ensure pantry facilities are organized, safe, welcoming, and accessible. Oversee food receiving, sorting, inventory management, and distribution activities. Maintain adequate inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing waste. Develop and implement efficient distribution process that preserve client dignity and choice. Coordinate emergency food assistance services during periods of increased community need. Inventory and Warehouse Management Oversee all food procurement, receiving, storage, and distribution activities. Maintain accurate inventory records using pantry management software. Ensure stock rotation utilizing First-in, First-Out (FIFO) inventory practices. Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies. Monitor refrigeration and freezer systems and maintain temperature logs. Track food donations, purchased food, and reporting purposes. Coordinate food pickups with community partners and suppliers.

$45,760.00 per year
