Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Outbound Operations Manager to lead outbound fulfillment for one building of our dual-building distribution campus. This facility is heavily dedicated to pallet picking, direct-to-pallet case picking, and bulk outbound shipping. The Outbound Operations Manager is responsible for leading end-to-end outbound operations, including wave, planning, order fulfillment, and trailer loading, while fostering a "One Campus" culture. You will work closely with your counterpart in the adjacent facility to optimize resources, balance campus-wide labor, and drive continuous improvement utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies and our advancing labor management technologies. Key Responsibilities Safety & Environment Champion a zero-incident culture by participating in the Safety Transformation Steering Committee and enforcing campus-wide safety policies. Conduct daily Gemba walks to ensure strict adherence to safe operating procedures, particularly regarding material handling equipment. Review safety incident trends and actively engage with the Safety Committee to mitigate risks on the outbound dock and pick modules. Quality & Operational Excellence Drive the Quality Performance Engagement Program to ensure dense, stable, and accurate pallet builds. Manage operations utilizing SAP and advanced wearable scanning technology, ensuring strict adherence to "Ship Complete" order logic. Utilize DMAIC problem-solving, A3 project reporting, and the campus Obeya room for visual management and daily performance tracking. Ensure rigorous load-quality checks to prevent transit damage, focusing on stretch-wrapping standards and weight distribution. Labor Management & Performance Drive the adoption and ongoing utilization of the campus Labor Management System (LMS) to monitor associate performance against engineered labor standards. Analyze operational and labor performance data to identify productivity opportunities and provide coaching, training, and performance feedback consistent with company policies and applicable employment laws. Monitor and drive key performance indicators (KPIs) including Cases Per Hour (CPH) and On-Time Dispatch. Manage labor planning to meet daily volume requirements while strictly controlling post-peak overtime and adhering to applicable workforce scheduling practices, company policies, and operational requirements. Collaborate daily with the adjacent building's Outbound Manager to balance labor, share equipment, and optimize yard/dock door availability without relying on contingency labor. Leadership & Team Development Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors, leads, and hourly employees to achieve operational, safety, quality, and productivity objectives. Execute daily startup meetings and structure 1:1 check-in to drive engagement across the floor. Support a 12-month leadership development curriculum, developing frontline leaders within the Organizational Optimization Program. Support workforce planning initiatives, including shift assignments and scheduling processes, in accordance with business needs, company policies, and applicable laws. Physical Demands & Working Conditions Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including frequent walking, standing, and movement throughout a large distribution campus, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work a schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak operational periods, based on business needs. Exposure to varying warehouse environments, elevated storage areas, and active material handling equipment.
Requirements:
Qualifications & Skills Experience :
5+ years of progressive leadership experience in a high-volume distribution center, logistics, warehousing, or supply chain environment with expertise in palletized freight and bulk shipping.
Methodologies:
Demonstrated success implementing Lean Six Sigma, Gemba walks, and Obeya visual management. Black Belt certification is a plus.
Technology :
Experience utilizing warehouse management systems (WMS), labor management systems (LMS), ERP platforms such as SAP, and other operational technologies. Experience with Dematic WCS and wearable scanning solutions is preferred.
