Nonexempt Reports to: Owner/CEO About the Role We are a high-volume e-commerce brand seeking an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to lead daily warehouse execution, employee performance, scheduling, and problem-solving in a fast-moving fulfillment environment. This is an active, hands-on leadership position. The Warehouse Operations Manager is expected to maintain a consistent presence on the warehouse floor, make timely operational decisions, and ensure the warehouse remains properly staffed and supervised. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, direct but fair, dependable, and capable of leading a team through changing priorities and high-volume periods. Warehouse and Fulfillment Operations Oversee daily picking, packing, shipping, receiving, preparation, and inventory flow. Ensure orders are completed accurately, on time, and according to company procedures. Monitor workload, productivity, and daily goals. Adjust staffing assignments and priorities based on operational needs. Address operational problems promptly and escalate matters when appropriate. Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, security, and safety standards. Remain actively engaged on the warehouse floor and step into operational tasks when reasonably necessary. People Leadership Provide direct leadership for approximately 25-30 employees across warehouse shifts. Supervise, support, and develop warehouse leads and team members. Hold employees accountable for attendance, conduct, productivity, and performance expectations. Conduct coaching, corrective-action, and disciplinary conversations professionally and consistently in coordination with HR. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and respectful workplace standards. Ensure the warehouse is not left without qualified leadership coverage during operating hours. Scheduling and Leadership Coverage Create and manage employee schedules within company and ownership-approved staffing parameters. Maintain adequate coverage during all warehouse operating hours. Respond promptly to call-outs, absences, shift changes, and unexpected coverage gaps. Contact available qualified leaders and adjust assignments when coverage issues arise. Personally report to the warehouse when a scheduled lead or other lower-level supervisor calls out and another qualified leader cannot provide coverage. Be available for occasional early arrivals, late stays, or schedule adjustments when reasonably required by business operations. Communicate unresolved staffing concerns to executive leadership and HR promptly. Training and SOP Enforcement Enforce established SOPs, safety requirements, and operational policies. Coordinate and participate in new-hire training. Ensure employees receive appropriate floor training before working independently. Identify retraining needs and follow through on corrective training. Update or recommend SOP improvements as warehouse operations evolve. Confirm that leads apply procedures consistently across employees and shifts. Inventory and Accuracy Oversee inventory accuracy, cycle counts, year-end counts, and discrepancy resolution. Monitor the movement of raw materials, packaging supplies, work-in-progress items, and finished goods. Work with purchasing and inventory personnel to resolve receiving and stock discrepancies. Support accurate inventory practices across warehouse, retail, and other assigned locations. Maintain appropriate loss-prevention and product-handling controls. Hiring and Workforce Management Serve as the primary warehouse contact for staffing agencies. Communicate staffing needs, schedule changes, attendance concerns, performance feedback, and coverage gaps to agency partners. Participate in interviewing and selecting temporary and permanent warehouse employees. Coordinate onboarding, orientation, floor training, and initial assignments. Monitor temporary employee performance and recommend conversions, reassignments, or the conclusion of assignments. Partner with HR regarding hiring documentation, employee relations, corrective action, and compliance matters. Communication and Accountability Keep executive leadership informed of staffing issues, operational risks, missed goals, inventory problems, and recurring concerns. Provide clear handoffs between shifts and leadership personnel. Document incidents, employee-performance concerns, coaching, and operational resolutions accurately and promptly. Follow through on assigned projects and provide timely status updates. Communicate professionally during disagreements and support final company decisions once direction has been established. Required Qualifications At least 3-5 years of warehouse, distribution, or fulfillment leadership experience. Experience directly managing teams of 20 or more employees. Experience managing supervisors or team leads. Strong understanding of high-volume e-commerce fulfillment. Demonstrated experience with scheduling, attendance management, training, and employee accountability. Ability to make sound decisions independently while following company policies and leadership direction. Comfortable using warehouse, inventory, scheduling, and productivity-tracking systems. Shopify or Shopify Plus inventory experience preferred. Staffing-agency management experience preferred. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to work on-site throughout the scheduled shift. Ability to regularly walk and stand in a warehouse environment. Ability to bend, reach, and perform operational warehouse tasks as needed. Ability to safely lift up to ___ pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work around warehouse equipment, packaging materials, and changing noise or temperature conditions. Reliable transportation and the ability to report to the worksite for scheduled and required coverage. Leadership Expectations This position requires someone who: Maintains a calm, firm, and reliable leadership presence. Makes timely decisions without requiring constant direction. Addresses difficult conversations instead of avoiding them. Works within staffing, scheduling, and operational parameters established by ownership. Understands that management includes personally ensuring leadership coverage when unexpected absences occur. Supports employees with fairness and respect while maintaining appropriate accountability. Accepts responsibility for the performance and stability of warehouse operations. Demonstrates discretion, sound judgment, and a proven ability to protect confidential and proprietary information. Confidentiality and Proprietary Information Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee matters, business operations, inventory, sales information, product development, vendor relationships, internal processes, passwords, and other proprietary company information. Share confidential information only with authorized individuals who have a legitimate business need to know. Protect company documents, systems, reports, access credentials, and operational data from unauthorized access or disclosure. Exercise sound judgment when discussing company matters and never share internal information with employees, customers, vendors, competitors, or outside parties unless authorized. Immediately report any suspected loss, misuse, or unauthorized disclosure of confidential or proprietary information to HR or executive leadership. Continue protecting the company's confidential and proprietary information during and after employment.Pre-Employment Requirements Final candidates must:
Provide three professional references who can speak to their leadership experience, reliability, judgment, and work performance. Successfully complete a job-related background check after receiving a conditional offer of employment, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Sign and comply with the company's confidentiality and proprietary-information agreement. Provide documentation establishing identity and authorization to work in the United States, as required by law. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of all applicable pre-employment requirements. Why This Role Matters The Warehouse Operations Manager plays a critical role in protecting daily operations, supporting employees, maintaining accountability, and ensuring customer orders are completed accurately and on time.
