LOCATION
•Hartford, CT Essential Duties & Responsibilities We are seeking an experienced Distribution Center Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations, inventory control, production planning, financial reporting, and team performance. This position plays a key role in ensuring efficient workflow, accurate inventory, and compliance with company policies and procedures. Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management Plan and optimize warehouse layouts and storage areas based on inventory turnover, item size, weight, volume, and other operational considerations. Develop, implement, and manage production and workflow plans for the warehouse. Oversee warehouse financial reporting and assist with monitoring operational costs. Ensure proper handling, storage, preservation, and shipment of products and materials. Review inventory records for accuracy and ensure compliance with established inventory control procedures. Monitor stock levels and identify non-usable, slow-moving, and excess inventory. Investigate inventory discrepancies by tracing item history and identifying root causes; recommend and implement corrective actions. Coordinate and schedule special, cycle, and periodic physical inventories. Establish work procedures, develop schedules, and ensure efficient workflow throughout warehouse operations. Identify opportunities to standardize processes and improve productivity, efficiency, and overall warehouse performance. Leadership & Employee Management Provide clear written and verbal instructions to warehouse personnel and management teams. Assign responsibilities and review work for accuracy, quality, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and procedures. Advise employees on proper equipment use, material handling, storage practices, and product care. Promote a positive, respectful, and productive work environment. Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues in a timely and professional manner. Investigate and resolve operational errors, customer complaints, and other warehouse-related concerns. Provide coaching, training, and development to employees and managers as needed. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide overall leadership, direction, coordination, and evaluation of multiple warehouse departments. Directly manage approximately 4-12 subordinate managers, who oversee departmental supervisors and a combined workforce of approximately 50-100 employees. Ensure management practices are consistent with company policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws. Recruit, train, coach, and develop employees and management personnel. Plan, assign, and direct work while monitoring performance and productivity. Conduct performance evaluations and provide appropriate recognition, coaching, corrective action, and disciplinary measures when necessary. Address employee complaints and workplace concerns professionally and effectively. Develop and implement operational procedures designed to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and overall warehouse performance. Support management in resolving operational and personnel issues. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university or 3-5 years of related warehouse, distribution, operations, or management experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated leadership and people-management experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or similar environment. Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills. Ability to manage multiple departments, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, production planning, and workflow management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
