Job Description
BDI Marine Contractors, LLC is seeking an experienced and dependable Yard Service Manager to oversee the daily operations of our construction yard, equipment fleet, service activities, and material organization. This position will coordinate mechanics, drivers, equipment movement, repairs, preventative maintenance, and yard personnel to ensure our field operations have the equipment and materials they need. Responsibilities Oversee daily yard operations, equipment servicing, repairs, and material movement Supervise mechanics, service technicians, CDL drivers, and yard personnel Coordinate the delivery and pickup of equipment, materials, tools, and supplies Schedule preventative maintenance and ensure repairs are completed promptly Track the location, condition, and availability of company vehicles, trailers, and equipment Prioritize service requests and respond to equipment breakdowns affecting active projects Inspect equipment and vehicles for safety, maintenance, and DOT compliance concerns Maintain accurate repair, inspection, maintenance, and equipment records Manage parts, tools, fuel, supplies, and yard inventory Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field crews Ensure equipment is cleaned, fueled, inspected, and ready before being sent to a job site Maintain an organized, clean, and safe yard and shop Obtain pricing and coordinate with outside vendors when repairs cannot be completed internally Monitor employee productivity, attendance, and work quality Enforce company, OSHA, DOT, and job-site safety requirements Assist with hiring, training, and evaluating yard and service employees Qualifications Previous experience managing a construction yard, equipment fleet, mechanic shop, or service department required Strong knowledge of construction equipment, trucks, trailers, diesel engines, hydraulics, and preventative maintenance Previous supervisory or management experience required Ability to prioritize repairs and coordinate multiple service and delivery requests Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Experience maintaining fleet, repair, inventory, and inspection records Knowledge of DOT vehicle requirements and load-securement procedures preferred Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required CDL Class A is preferred but not required Welding, fabrication, or mechanical experience is a plus Ability to work independently and make timely operational decisions Must be willing to work outdoors and respond to occasional after-hours equipment issues What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Full-time, year-round employment Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid holidays and vacation Company-provided tools and resources Opportunities for advancement A leadership role with a growing marine and heavy civil construction company
