Yard Manager Job Summary:

As a Yard Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the yard, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to company policies. This role involves managing a team of yard personnel, coordinating logistics, and maintaining a well-organized and functional space.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

Supervise, train, and lead a team of yard personnel, including drivers and yard staff. Foster a positive working environment, promoting teamwork and accountability.

Logistics Coordination:

Ensure timely loading and unloading of materials. Verify shipping paperwork for accuracy and process for accounting. Schedule and prioritize shipments to meet customer demands and deadlines.

Inventory Management:

Conduct regular cycle counts to maintain accurate records. Collaborate with other departments to address inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.

Equipment Maintenance:

Manage the maintenance and repair of yard equipment, including forklifts, trucks, trailers, blowers and other machinery. Schedule routine equipment inspections and coordinate with maintenance staff to address issues promptly.

Safety Compliance:

Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a secure work environment. Conduct regular safety meetings, training sessions, and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Yard Organization:

Plan and optimize the layout of the yard for efficient operations. Implement systems for tracking and locating inventory and equipment.

Budget Management:

Assist in developing and managing the yard budget, including labor and equipment costs. Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining operational efficiency..

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience in yard management or a similar role. Strong leadership and communication skills. Knowledge of yard operations, logistics, and inventory management. Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices. Ability to use yard management software and other relevant tools. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to lift heavy materials(50 to 75 pounds).
