Job Description
Overview Chef's Kitchen in Chicago, a leading distributor of food products is inviting you to join our dynamic logistics team as a Logistics Manager, where you'll lead and coordinate all transportation activities to ensure seamless delivery operations. This pivotal role involves managing freight movement, optimizing transportation processes, and supervising a team of logistics professionals. You will play a key part in driving efficiency, reducing costs, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance across all transportation functions. Responsibilities Oversee daily transportation operations, including freight planning, dispatching, and route optimization using advanced Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Supervise and mentor transportation staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, operational procedures, and company policies. Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) partners to streamline freight forwarding and shipping activities. Monitor and analyze supply chain metrics using ERP systems and supply chain analytics tools to identify process improvement opportunities. Manage budgetary responsibilities related to transportation costs, including procurement, freight negotiations, and fleet management expenses. Implement continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean methodologies to enhance process efficiency and reduce waste across transportation workflows. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to shipping & receiving, freight documentation, and inventory control. Requirements Strong understanding of supply chain management principles including logistics coordination and maintenance. Demonstrated ability in supervising teams within a transportation environment with excellent leadership skills. Familiarity with freight operations including shipping & receiving, dispatching, fleet management, procurement, and materials management. Experience working with 3PL providers, and managing transportation budgets effectively. Proficiency in process improvement techniques such as Lean or continuous improvement strategies to optimize workflows. Ability to utilize supply chain analytics for decision-making; familiarity with tools like ERP systems or supply chain software is preferred.
