The Prince George's County Office of Central Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a M ail Services Manager ( Supply Manager 1G ) grade G18/21 position, in the General Services Division. About the Position This position is responsible for managing the operations of the County's mailroom, ensuring the efficient and secure handling, distribution, and dispatch of incoming and outgoing mail and packages. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of mailroom staff, developing and implementing procedures to optimize mail services, managing relationships with postal and courier vendors, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations, and overseeing mailroom budgets and equipment. Incumbent works under close supervision and work is evaluated as it contributes to the overall effectiveness of the County. Upon the satisfactory completion of a probationary period, the position incumbent may be promoted to the II full performance level at management's discretion. About the Agency The Office of Central Services is a multifaceted agency of the Prince George's County Government providing government-wide, mission critical support services in the areas of facilities operations and management, building design & construction, real estate services, fleet management, and general services. We make government operations operate better for the government. Plans and oversees unit operations and supervises personnel. Recommends the mail services annual budget and records and reports costs incurred and monitors approved budget. Serves as principal point of contact for mail services for departments/agencies and advises on U.S. Postal Service rates and policies. Evaluates new technology and systems relating to mail processing and makes recommendations for selection/implementation. Prepares contract specifications for support of in-house mail programs including bids for new equipment, courier services, bar coding services and material requirements. Uses a computer and automated processes for various applications, such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, and mailing machine software updates. Willingly performs other tasks and duties assigned, which may not be specifically listed in the position description; however, are within the general occupational category and responsibility level associated with the employee's class of work.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in marketing, retail sales and distribution, economics, business or public administration with course work in automated data processing or a related area. Must have a valid driver's license Any equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience may also be accepted.
Preferred Qualifications:
Skill in using computer and automated processed for various applications, such as email, word processing, spreadsheets and reports. Skill in planning, scheduling, and supervising the work of ail services personnel. Ability to prepare and maintain work-related records, including computer generated records.
