Inventory Yard Manager

Job description Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the yard, including inventory management, materials handling, and dispatching
• Develop and implement efficient processes to optimize yard operations and improve productivity
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline supply chain management and enhance overall operational efficiency
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of yard activities, including inventory levels, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules
• Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to increase efficiency and reduce costs
• Manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers and negotiate favorable terms and pricing
• Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with quality regulations and company policies. Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations management, or a related field preferred
• Proven experience in yard management or a similar role, with a strong understanding of logistics operations
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
• Knowledge of materials handling techniques and best practices
• Experience in sourcing materials from various suppliers and managing vendor relationships
• Knowledge and willingness to use safety standards of forklift operation, use lockout procedures and wear necessary PPE
• Ability to work closely with others; be a team player/leader; demonstrate good communication skills, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work with little direct supervision and be self-motivated.
• Familiarity with category management principles for effective procurement strategies.
