This is a pivotal role responsible for the full scope of warehouse operations at our newly established Durham, NC facility: receiving, inventory control, order fulfilment, safety, staffing, and continuous improvement. Laylas Dance Costumes is an established dance costume retailer serving dance studios, recital coordinators, and customers across the US and Canada. Our business is seasonal and time-critical — recital season demands are non-negotiable, and this role is central to ensuring every costume, garment, and accessory ships accurately and on time.

What You'll Do:

Day-to-Day Operations Oversee core warehouse functions: receiving, inspection, storage, picking, packing, shipping, and will call fulfilment for all accounts Ensure inbound shipments are checked against POs and inspected for accuracy and condition Manage daily workflows and labor schedules to meet throughput and delivery targets, with heightened focus during peak recital season Maintain garment handling standards and keep the facility clean, organized, and safe Inventory & Accuracy Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts, FIFO rotation, and timely discrepancy reconciliation Manage inter-branch transfers and supplier POs within the warehouse and ERP systems Communicate proactively with procurement and sales on shortages, backorders, and pre-season delays Team Leadership Hire, train, and manage warehouse staff, scaling the team for peak season demand Assign work, develop daily labor plans, and hold the team accountable to pick accuracy and packing quality standards Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement Safety & Compliance Enforce safety procedures, report incidents promptly, and ensure compliance with applicable health and safety standards Oversee facility upkeep including equipment maintenance and pest control Reporting & Collaboration Maintain open order and inventory reports, working with inside sales to resolve queues ahead of recital deadlines Coordinate with sales, procurement, and logistics teams on studio account commitments, delays, and cross-border fulfilment priorities What You'll Bring Experience 3-5 years of warehouse management experience covering receiving, inventory control, picking, packing, and shipping Proven track record leading a warehouse team, ideally in apparel or consumer goods Comfortable with WMS, ERP, and order management systems (ShipStation experience a plus) Forklift certified or willing to obtain certification Skills Strong leadership with the ability to coach, delegate, and make clear decisions under pressure Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment Clear communicator across all levels of the business Proficient in Microsoft Office; adaptable to new systems Familiarity with garment handling or soft goods warehousing is a distinct advantage Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50-80 lbs and work on the warehouse floor for extended periods
