A Distribution Center Manager oversees day-to-day workflow and employees of a distribution center. This includes tasks like receiving, storage, shipping, and expense management. May involve management of suppliers.
This operation runs 24/7, and individual schedules are determined by volume and client needs. Weekend availability is required and the facility is only closed three days each year.
Job Purpose:
The Ripening Manager oversees the efficient operation of the ripening facility within the warehouse, ensuring products meet customer standards and are fulfilled optimally. This role requires close coordination with customers and vendors to achieve quality standards in line with company procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilize a forecasting model based on customer information, historical demand, and business capacity. Manage the continuous ripening cycle to meet demand while maintaining product quality and shelf life. Conduct required inbound inspections to ensure products meet criteria before the ripening process. Collaborate with the Forecasting Manager to communicate any anticipated changes in demand or supply to the Distribution Center and customers. Implement and maintain proper sanitation practices in the ripening area. Establish a preventive maintenance program for ripening rooms and equipment. Track customer feedback and implement corrective actions as necessary. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Functional Knowledge of:
Banana ripening process Banana quality and maturation
Skills and Abilities:
Strong planning and organizational skills Understanding of the banana supply chain
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel Familiarity with WMS (GOLD) system preferred
Reasoning Ability:
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact at all management levels Ability to manage and lead a diverse workforce effectively
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs Extended periods of sitting at a computer
Work Environment:
