Job Description

Position Overview:
The Distribution Manager manages Encore's day-to-day broker and agency relationships, recruiting and onboarding new distribution partners, supporting profitable production across the construction and commercial book, and serving as the primary day-to-day contact for appointed agencies. This is a field-facing, relationship-driven role responsible for the health and growth of Encore's distribution channel, with strategic and final-decision support from senior leadership.
Core Responsibilities:
Distribution Development & Appointments Source and vet prospective broker/agency partners independently, applying Encore's appetite framework to identify appointment-appropriate agencies Manage the end-to-end appointment process, including producer licensing verification, contracting, and onboarding Serve as platform expert for Encore's broker-facing technology, delivering live demos to prospective brokers and agencies and answering technical questions through the appointment process Maintain a pipeline of prospective agencies and a structured approach to territory coverage Relationship Management & Field Presence Serve as the primary point of contact for appointed brokers Conduct regular virtual and in-person visits to maintain relationships and reinforce Encore's value proposition Resolve broker issues and act as the liaison between brokers and internal underwriting, operations, and compliance teams Production & Performance Management Monitor production by broker against targets for volume, loss ratio, and profitability Flag underperforming relationships to leadership; support development of corrective plans in partnership with the Sr. Director of Operations and COO Grow submission flow and bound premium from existing partners through proactive engagement Track hit ratios, quote-to-bind, and other distribution KPIs Outreach & Marketing Plan and execute broker outreach campaigns, communications, and product rollouts Analyze campaign performance using key metrics and provide regular reporting Represent Encore at industry events, conferences, and broker functions Gather and relay market intelligence (competitor appetite, pricing pressure, emerging opportunities) to leadership and underwriting Maintain CRM data on broker contacts, engagement history, and outreach activity to support pipeline management and campaign execution Cross-Functional & Compliance Coordinate with underwriting on appetite alignment and capacity considerations Ensure broker activity complies with appointment, licensing, and regulatory requirements Contribute to leadership discussions on distribution strategy, territory planning, and growth priorities
Key Performance Indicators:
New agency appointments per quarter Net new bound premium from distribution channel Production growth from existing partners Portfolio loss ratio across managed relationships Broker engagement / retention
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in insurance distribution, wholesale, or MGA experience (construction/commercial lines a strong plus) Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present Encore's appetite and value proposition to brokers and at industry events Proficiency with CRM systems (HubSpot preferred; Salesforce, Zoho, or comparable platforms acceptable) Comfort presenting software platforms live to external audiences; ability to learn new systems quickly and explain them to non-technical brokers Comfort interpreting production data and KPI dashboards to identify trends and support corrective-action conversations with leadership Strong relationship and territory management skills; comfortable with travel as needed Working knowledge of underwriting fundamentals and the broker/MGA model Self-directed and comfortable operating with limited supervision in a small-team environment
Preferred Licensing and Certifications:
Active P&C producer license preferred (or the ability to obtain) Surplus lines license Compliance training (State Departments of Insurance continuing education and applicable internal training) ASLI (Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance) and/or CRIS (Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist) certifications HubSpot CRM certification
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
