Job Description

We have an immediate need for a 1st shift (7:00am-5:15pm Monday-Thursday) yard manager in a steel fabrication environment. Qualified candidates but have a valid driver's license, pass a criminal background check, drug test & physical.
Additional details below:
Medium to high energy personality I believe this in some ways will drive them to be motivated and maybe not be willing to just go with status quo. I would like to see someone who sees potential improvements and drives for change in that area. This individual has to be self-motivated and self-governing as this position/department only has a total of two employees and this hire specifically I am looking for more of a leader to rebuild the department around at some point. High attention to detail- Someone with a quality background should fit well here as usually those individuals have a keener eye for detail. Willingness to learn- We have to have someone who either has code experience with receiving or someone who is motivated to learn. A background in receiving is not mandatory as this can be fully taught to them, so no degrees or multiple years of experience is necessary. Intelligence does not have to be an extreme level of intellect but needs to be a problem solver. Not required but desired, someone who has familiarity with using calipers. They do need to know how to use a tape measure though. Computer skills are a must but do not have to be at a high level. Entry level computer skills with them mostly using Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to "Triage" or identify priority of tasks needed to be efficient and manage time appropriately. Someone who can handle outdoor conditions heat/cold. Their job will be split (somewhat) between their small office and yard. Office work will include paperwork/computer and yard work will include forklift operation to offload trucks, move and locate material, etc. I really need a strong mind and a personality that can both operate somewhat solo but also get along with the team here. They will be required to interact with fellow employees, truck drivers, and vendors. Forklift experience is a MUST!!! They will be using a forklift daily and will be responsibility for offloading trucks and as such they will see many kinds of item from small angles to large plates and shapes. This hire will replace one of our receiving inspectors who plans on retiring in January 2027.
