POSITION SUMMARY
The Distribution Manager is a key management role responsible for overseeing operations at a regional distribution center. This position ensures efficient handling of products from receipt to shipment, compliance with company policies, and high standards of customer service. The manager also leads inventory management, facility maintenance, and staff development to ensure a safe and effective environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Distribution Operations and Inventory Management:
Lead all distribution operations including shipping, receiving, and freight coordination. Develop and enforce inventory control processes in collaboration with the Corporate Inventory Manager. Monitor operational metrics and KPIs to ensure goals are met and identify areas for improvement. Maintain regular communication with the Director of Distribution and other senior operations personnel to provide updates and receive strategic direction. Transportation, Fleet, and Offsite Shipping Operations Lead transportation execution for company operated trucks, trailers, and related fleet assets Manage drivers, routing coordination, dispatch alignment, and daily transportation performance Oversee fleet utilization, trailer availability, equipment readiness, and service scheduling Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, licensing, inspections, maintenance requirements, and safety standards Coordinate offsite shipping or staging locations used to load trailers and ensure adherence to company procedures. Monitor trailer loading practices to ensure accuracy, safety, cube utilization, and on time Investigate transportation incidents, delivery issues, equipment damage, and loading errors, then implement corrective actions Support cost control through route discipline, fleet productivity, and effective use of company
Customer and Order Fulfillment:
Guarantee high customer satisfaction by ensuring timely and accurate order processing and delivery. Resolve distribution-related customer issues in coordination with the customer service team. Utilize order management systems (OMS) to track and fulfill orders efficiently.
Facility and Safety Management:
Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of the warehouse. Implement and monitor compliance with safety standards and industry regulations. Advocate for continuous improvement through Six Sigma methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
Leadership and Human Resources:
Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to the distribution team to foster a productive and engaging work environment. Conduct performance reviews and support professional development of staff. Manage recruitment, staffing levels, and succession planning with the approval of the Director of Distribution.
Financial Responsibilities:
Prepare annual budgets and financial plans for the location. The duties and responsibilities of this role may evolve due to the dynamic nature of the company.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum of 10 years' experience in warehouse or wholesale distribution management. Experience managing transportation operations, company drivers, and fleet assets preferred Knowledge of transportation compliance, fleet safety, and equipment control practices Experience coordinating offsite shipping, yard operations, or remote loading activity is an asset Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proven ability to manage a team in a high-pressure environment. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Superior communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and experience with ERP systems including OMS, WMS, and TMS.
