Pipe Fabrication /Industrial Manufacturing Position:
Full-Time Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Warehouse & Yard Manager to oversee warehouse and yard operations at our pipe fabrication facilities in Houston, Texas. This position will oversee warehouse and yard operations across three Houston facilities. This position is responsible for maintaining safe, organized, and efficient material flow throughout the facilities, including receiving, storage, inventory control, material staging, shipping, and yard management. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience in pipe fabrication, structural steel, industrial manufacturing, oil & gas, or a similar heavy-material environment. This individual must be comfortable managing personnel while also being actively involved in day-to-day warehouse and yard operations. Key Responsibilities Oversee warehouse and yard operations across three Houston facilities, ensuring consistent organization, safety, and operational efficiency at each location . Manage daily warehouse and yard operations, including receiving, storage, staging, loading, and shipping of pipe, fittings, flanges, fabricated spools, and other materials. Supervise, train, schedule, and provide direction to warehouse and yard personnel. Maintain an organized and efficient yard with clearly designated areas for raw material, work-in-process, completed fabrication, customer material, and outbound shipments. Coordinate material movement and priorities with Fabrication, Production, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Project Management. Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, packing lists, and applicable documentation. Ensure materials are properly identified, tagged, stored, and traceable. Maintain accurate inventory records and investigate discrepancies. Coordinate material staging for fabrication based on production requirements and priorities. Oversee preparation, verification, and loading of outgoing shipments. Ensure fabricated spools and other finished products are properly identified and protected during storage and transportation. Maintain accountability for warehouse and yard tools, equipment, and consumable materials. Oversee safe operation and routine inspection of forklifts and other material-handling equipment. Maintain clean, safe, and organized warehouse and yard areas. Enforce company safety policies and proper material-handling procedures. Participate in inventory counts and cycle counts as required. Identify opportunities to improve material flow, inventory accuracy, productivity, and yard utilization. Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, damages, and operational issues promptly to management. Perform other duties as required to support fabrication operations. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of warehouse, material control, or yard experience in pipe fabrication, structural steel, industrial manufacturing, oil & gas, or a related environment preferred. Previous supervisory or management experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge of pipe, fittings, flanges, valves, and common fabrication materials is highly desirable. Experience handling long, heavy, and irregularly shaped materials. Strong understanding of receiving, shipping, inventory control, and material traceability. Forklift and material-handling equipment experience required. Ability to read material descriptions, purchase orders, packing lists, bills of lading, and related documentation. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced fabrication environment. Basic computer skills and experience with inventory, ERP, or material-management systems. Strong communication and leadership skills. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in a fabrication shop and industrial yard environment. Ability to work in Houston weather conditions, including heat and humidity. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to climb, bend, reach, and perform duties associated with warehouse and yard operations. Ability to safely lift and handle materials within company-established lifting requirements. Must be comfortable working around forklifts, trucks, cranes, fabrication equipment, and heavy industrial materials. The successful candidate will keep materials organized, maintain inventory accuracy, hold the team accountable, communicate effectively with production, and make sure the right material is in the right place at the right time.
