Job Summary The Landscaping Yard Manager oversees the daily operations of the landscape yard, including truck and vehicle management, equipment maintenance and relocation. This role ensures efficient material handling and high-quality service to support landscaping projects. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain accurate inventory of landscape materials (soil, mulch, stone, plants, hardscape materials, fertilizers, etc.), including receiving, storing, organizing, and rotating stock. Coordinate material loading, delivery preparation, and supplies and materials pickup operations to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Maintain and oversee the condition of yard equipment (loaders, forklifts, trucks, scales, etc.), schedule preventive maintenance, and arrange repairs as needed. Monitor and maintain yard organization, cleanliness, and layout to maximize efficiency and accessibility. Collaborate with sales, delivery, and landscaping teams to support project timelines and business needs. Manage and receive deliveries, and verify quality and quantities against purchase orders. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to material storage, runoff, and waste disposal. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in horticulture, landscape management, business, or related field preferred. 3+ years of experience in landscaping, nursery, hardscape, or materials yard operations, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or management role. Valid driver's license; ability to obtain or maintain forklift/loader certification preferred. Strong knowledge of landscape materials, plants, soils, aggregates, and related products. Proven experience with inventory management systems and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, inventory software). Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical tasks as needed (lifting, walking the yard, operating equipment). Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong service orientation and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills Experience with heavy equipment operation and maintenance. Ability to Drive truck and trailer. Knowledge of local landscaping trends, plant materials, and seasonal demand. Familiarity with safety training programs and environmental compliance. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus in many markets. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and operate heavy equipment. Tolerance for dust, noise, and varying weather conditions. Work Environment Primarily outdoor yard setting with exposure to weather, dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
