This position provides leadership to warehouse employees and supervisors while ensuring products are received, stored, handled, and shipped accurately and efficiently. The General Manager is responsible for maintaining appropriate staffing levels, controlling warehouse expenses, monitoring inventory accuracy, and ensuring daily operational goals are met. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesWarehouse Operations Manage and oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, staging, and shipping. Ensure incoming products and materials are received accurately and in a timely manner. Ensure outgoing orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and according to schedule. Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient warehouse. Establish and maintain warehouse procedures and standards. Coordinate daily priorities and workloads based on incoming and outgoing order volume. Work with other departments to address inventory, fulfillment, production, and shipping needs. Identify operational issues and implement appropriate corrective actions. Inventory Management Oversee inventory control and ensure accurate inventory records are maintained. Monitor receiving, transfers, adjustments, returns, damaged products, and finished goods. Conduct and oversee cycle counts and physical inventory counts. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies. Monitor product quantities, storage locations, expiration dates, and inventory movement. Ensure inventory is properly labeled, stored, and accounted for. Monitor inventory shortages and communicate replenishment needs to appropriate departments. Minimize inventory loss, damage, and shrink. Shipping and Receiving Oversee all inbound and outbound warehouse activity. Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and receiving documentation. Ensure outgoing shipments are complete, accurate, and properly documented. Coordinate carrier pickups and deliveries. Monitor freight and shipping expenses. Address shipping errors, damages, shortages, and other delivery issues. Maintain adequate levels of shipping and packaging supplies. Staffing and Labor Management Manage warehouse supervisors, leads, and employees. Determine staffing requirements based on workload and operational needs. Prepare and manage employee schedules. Monitor employee attendance, hours, productivity, and overtime. Ensure labor is appropriately allocated throughout the warehouse. Recruit, train, coach, and develop warehouse employees. Conduct employee performance evaluations. Address performance and disciplinary issues in accordance with company policy. Maintain appropriate training and cross-training programs. Ensure employees understand and meet productivity and accuracy expectations. Cost Control and Budget Management Monitor and manage warehouse operating expenses. Control labor costs, overtime, freight, packaging materials, supplies, equipment, and other warehouse expenses. Assist with the development and management of the warehouse operating budget. Review operating costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenses. Monitor the cost and use of warehouse supplies and equipment. Review labor requirements against order and inventory volume. Provide management with operational and cost reports as requested. Performance Management Establish and monitor warehouse productivity and performance standards. Track key operational measures, including: Inventory accuracy Order accuracy Receiving and shipping accuracy On-time shipments Employee productivity Labor hours and overtime Shipping and freight costs Inventory loss and damage Review warehouse performance and implement improvements when necessary. Hold supervisors and employees accountable for meeting established standards. Safety and Facility Management Maintain a safe and orderly warehouse environment. Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable workplace safety requirements. Ensure employees are properly trained on warehouse equipment and procedures. Monitor the condition of warehouse equipment and coordinate maintenance and repairs. Maintain appropriate warehouse security and access controls. Investigate workplace accidents, product damage, and safety concerns. Ensure loading, receiving, storage, and shipping areas are properly maintained. Supervisory Responsibilities The Warehouse General Manager is responsible for the overall direction and supervision of warehouse personnel and may directly supervise warehouse supervisors, team leads, shipping and receiving personnel, inventory personnel, and other warehouse employees. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, assigning work, evaluating performance, coaching employees, addressing performance issues, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Qualifications 2+ years of warehouse, distribution, logistics, fulfillment, or related operational experience preferred. Previous warehouse management or general management experience required. Experience supervising and managing employees. Experience with inventory management and inventory-control procedures. Experience with shipping and receiving operations. Understanding of warehouse labor planning, scheduling, and productivity management. Experience monitoring operational costs and budgets. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with inventory, warehouse, shipping, or ERP software preferred. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar business software. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred. Relevant management experience may be considered in place of formal education. Physical Requirements Ability to work in a warehouse environment. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, and perform other activities commonly required in warehouse operations. Ability to lift and move materials in accordance with company requirements. Ability to work around warehouse equipment and loading areas. Availability to work additional hours as necessary to meet operational demands. Work Schedule This is a full-time management position. Work hours may vary based on receiving schedules, shipping deadlines, inventory requirements, staffing needs, and overall business operations.
Pay:
