Job Description

Position Overview The Logistics & Shipping/Receiving Manager is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing and actively participating in all domestic and international shipping, receiving, and logistics operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring efficient freight movement, accurate international shipping documentation, customs compliance, and cost-effective transportation solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with international shipping logistics, freight coordination, import/export documentation, and working directly with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers. This is a working manager role requiring both leadership and daily operational involvement in shipping and warehouse activities. Key Responsibilities Oversee and assist with daily shipping and receiving operations Manage domestic and international shipments via air, ocean, ground, LTL, and parcel carriers Coordinate directly with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transportation providers Prepare, review, and maintain international shipping documentation and compliance records Ensure compliance with import/export requirements and international shipping regulations Coordinate shipment schedules with production and internal departments to ensure on-time delivery Communicate shipment status, delays, and logistics updates with customers and internal teams Select shipment routing based on cost, transit time, and operational requirements Negotiate freight rates and identify cost-saving opportunities through shipment consolidation and carrier management Maintain relationships with carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics vendors Resolve shipping discrepancies, delays, customs issues, and freight claims Maintain shipping logs, inventory audits, and operational checklists Ensure proper packaging, labeling, and shipment documentation accuracy Conduct forklift safety and scale verification checks Lead, support, and train shipping and receiving personnel Drive continuous improvement initiatives within shipping, logistics, and warehouse operations Requirements 3+ years of logistics, shipping, transportation, or warehouse operations experience required 3+ years of experience with international shipping logistics and import/export coordination required Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and international carriers required Knowledge of international shipping documentation and compliance procedures strongly preferred Experience coordinating domestic and international freight via air, ocean, and ground transportation Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and hands-on operationally Preferred Qualifications Manufacturing environment experience preferred Experience managing shipping and receiving personnel preferred Forklift certification preferred Experience with ERP, shipping, or inventory management systems preferred Experience with customs documentation, AES filings, ISF filings, or freight claims preferred Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Education High school diploma or equivalent required Work Environment Manufacturing environment may be hot, dirty, and noisy. Employees may be exposed to metal particulates including nickel, cobalt, iron, and tungsten carbide. Proper safety procedures and PPE are required. Pay:
$26.00 - $30.00 per hour
