This role ensures materials and services are sourced efficiently, purchase orders are issued accurately and timely, vendor relationships are maintained, and project teams have the resources required to meet operational objectives. The Materials Manager is also responsible for invoice reconciliation, cost management, and supporting internal stakeholders throughout the procurement process. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide support to the General Manager, Service Manager, Project Managers, and operational teams. Solicit quotations, evaluate bids, and procure materials, equipment, supplies, and contracted services. Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for vendors and contractors. Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and completion of services. Monitor purchasing trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Source and qualify new suppliers and contractors that provide competitive pricing, quality products, and reliable service. Maintain strong relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure responsiveness and performance. Track outstanding purchase orders, expedite deliveries when necessary, and proactively communicate delays. Review invoices and ensure costs are accurately matched to approved purchase orders and project budgets. Assign purchases and contractor costs to the appropriate projects, work orders, departments, or cost centers. Support budgeting efforts by monitoring procurement expenditures and identifying cost reduction opportunities. Continuously meet ongoing company goals. Available to work overtime when required. Other duties as assigned by Manager. Safety and Environmental Responsibilities Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training. Wear proper personal protective equipment as required for the task or work area. Report all accidents, injuries, spills, and near misses immediately. Technical and Physical Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management/Administration, or related field preferred. Prior marina, marine, construction, facilities, or maintenance procurement experience preferred. Experience with purchasing systems, purchase order processing, and vendor management. Strong understanding of procurement practices, contract administration, and cost control. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing or ERP software systems. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Any skills considered standard that a Materials Manager / Purchasing Agent / Buyer should possess.
