This is not a remote dispatch position . We are looking for a visible, local leader who can manage CDL drivers, protect service reliability, maintain strict
DOT/FMCSA
compliance, and represent ownership in the field. Candidates must hold a valid Class A CDL with Doubles/Triples endorsement and be willing to drive routes or assist with spot moves when operational needs arise .
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership:
Provide primary on-site leadership across AM/PM linehaul and P&D spot moves. Oversee yard coordination, station support, and trailer positioning.
Scheduling & Dispatch:
Build and communicate weekly linehaul/spot driver schedules. Monitor dispatch activity, gate times, and service execution.
Field & Service Recovery:
Respond immediately to callouts, delays, weather issues, breakdowns, and extra assignments. Step in to drive routes or assist in the field whenever needed.
Driver Management & Safety:
Lead, coach, and hold CDL drivers accountable. Enforce
FMCSA/DOT
compliance, Hours of Service (HOS), DVIRs, ELD systems, and VEDR safety practices.
Fleet Maintenance Coordination:
Partner with Ryder and third-party vendors for preventive maintenance, repairs, Federal Annual Inspections (FAIs), and breakdown responses.
Stakeholder Communication:
Maintain professional daily communication with FedEx Ground contacts, drivers, vendors, and company ownership.
Settlement Oversight:
Review weekly settlement activity to ensure completed dispatches are accurately documented and accounted for.
Qualifications & Requirements Must-Have Criteria:
Licensing:
Valid Class A CDL with Doubles/Triples (T) Endorsement .
Medical & Background:
Valid DOT Medical Card, clean MVR/PSP record, and ability to pass drug/alcohol background checks.
Driving Requirement:
Active willingness and capability to operate tractor-trailers when coverage or service recovery requires it.
Schedule Flexibility:
Ability to support 24/7 operational needs, including AM/PM shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and urgent calls.
Tech Comfort:
Proficiency with smartphones, dispatch/ELD tools, email, and spreadsheets.
Preferred Experience:
Prior experience as a BC, Assistant BC, Linehaul Manager, Fleet Manager, or Dispatch Manager. Hands-on linehaul, LTL, or FedEx Ground contractor operations background. Proven track record in driver recruitment, training, retention, and performance management. Who Will Thrive in
