Job Type:
Full-Time | In-Person Epic Personnel Partners is currently seeking an experienced Logistics Manager for a fast-paced distribution environment in Islandia, NY. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing logistics operations, transportation processes, carrier relationships, shipment execution, and team performance. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and an excellent leader who can thrive in a fast-moving environment while ensuring operational excellence and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day logistics and transportation operations to ensure smooth workflow execution Ensure compliance with SOPs, company policies, DOT regulations, and operational procedures Manage shipment processes, freight quotes, carrier coordination, and customer communication Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and transportation partners Monitor shipment status and troubleshoot transportation or delivery issues as they arise Lead, train, coach, and support dispatch and logistics staff Evaluate employee performance and help develop team skills Analyze logistics data, carrier performance, and operational trends to improve efficiency Maintain accurate reporting, documentation, and communication records Support operational continuity and step in when needed to ensure smooth business operations
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent logistics/transportation experience 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, brokerage, or 3PL environments 2+ years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, transportation procedures, and shipment coordination Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills Excellent organizational and time management abilities Strong analytical mindset with the ability to compile and interpret data Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook required) Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is preferred Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus Flexibility is Key for This Role Candidates must be flexible and available to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and respond to operational emergencies when needed. This position may require after-hours support and being on-call to help maintain operations.
