Trak group is partnering with a growing manufacturing client seeking a Materials Manager to lead customer demand management, material planning, and production scheduling. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring customer demand is translated into executable production and material plans while balancing capacity, inventory, material availability, supplier performance, and customer delivery requirements. The Materials Manager will lead planning functions through managers and work closely with Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Logistics, and Supply Chain leadership. This position is ideal for an experienced manufacturing supply chain leader who can develop high-performing teams, improve planning processes, and drive accountability across the organization.

Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership for Customer Demand Management, Production Scheduling, and Material Planning functions. Lead, develop, and hold accountable managers responsible for demand planning, scheduling, and material planning. Ensure customer forecasts, schedules, and requirements are accurately translated into production and material plans. Develop production scheduling strategies that balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, labor availability, inventory, and operational efficiency. Oversee material planning to maintain uninterrupted supply while optimizing inventory investment and minimizing supply chain risk. Establish KPIs and performance expectations across planning functions. Monitor customer delivery, inventory, schedule attainment, planning accuracy, and operational performance. Review customer scorecards and planning metrics and lead corrective actions when performance falls below expectations. Lead organizational response to significant demand changes, capacity constraints, supplier issues, and material shortages. Serve as the senior escalation point for critical demand, scheduling, inventory, and material planning issues. Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Logistics, and Supply Chain leadership. Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements, scheduling agreements, and delivery expectations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning accuracy, schedule attainment, inventory optimization, supplier performance, and customer satisfaction. Identify opportunities to reduce costs, mitigate supply chain risks, and improve overall operational performance. Coach and develop planning leaders while supporting succession planning and organizational capability. Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements. Must-Haves Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field, or equivalent education and relevant experience. Extensive experience in materials management, supply chain planning, demand planning, production scheduling, or manufacturing operations. Strong manufacturing industry experience. Proven leadership experience overseeing multiple planning functions. Experience leading through managers or supervisors and developing high-performing teams.

Strong knowledge of:

Demand planning Production scheduling Material planning Inventory management Capacity planning End-to-end supply chain processes Demonstrated ability to balance customer demand with production capacity, inventory, and material availability. Experience managing significant demand changes, material shortages, capacity constraints, and other supply chain risks. Strong understanding of customer delivery requirements and planning performance metrics. Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Logistics, Sales, and Customer Service. Experience with ERP/MRP systems and supply chain planning tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and drive corrective actions. Demonstrated success improving inventory, customer service, planning accuracy, or overall supply chain performance. Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and organizational skills. Preferred Automotive manufacturing experience. Experience supporting automotive OEM customers and customer-specific requirements. SAP experience. Experience with EDI systems and customer scheduling processes. Experience managing customer scorecards and delivery performance. Background implementing continuous improvement initiatives within materials or supply chain operations. Experience with supplier performance improvement and inventory optimization.
