Job Description

Jamestown Container, One of the largest independent manufacturers of corrugated products in the northeastern United States, is looking to add a Shipping Manager to its team. This position will work out of our Macedonia Ohio location. Founded in 1956, Jamestown Container Companies is a privately owned company that has earned a reputation as an innovative, independent provider of high-quality corrugated products, consumer point of purchase displays, packaging supplies and fulfillment services for customers in Northeast Ohio. Our customers include many well-known local companies, as well as Fortune 100 companies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Champion a strong safety culture by promoting safe work practices, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, and driving continuous safety improvements. Provide leadership and direction for all shipping and warehouse operations to ensure the safe, accurate, and on-time delivery of customer orders. Oversee inbound and outbound freight scheduling, carrier selection, and transportation logistics. Manage, coach, and develop Shipping Leads, Forklift Operators, and other shipping personnel to build a high-performing team. Develop and maintain strong relationships with freight carriers, transportation providers, and other business partners. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce costs, improve warehouse organization, and eliminate waste. Partner with Production, Customer Service, Sales, Maintenance, and Scheduling to ensure customer requirements are met and shipping priorities are aligned. Ensure all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, shipping records, and compliance documentation, is completed accurately and timely. Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, employee development, and disciplinary processes in partnership with Human Resources. Drive accountability through regular communication, team meetings, coaching, and performance evaluations. Ensure compliance with all company policies, quality standards, food safety requirements, and regulatory requirements. Participate in daily production meetings and provide operational updates while coordinating shipping priorities. Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED. Preferred prior work experience in the corrugated industry. Preferred prior work experience as a forklift operator. 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing operations. Proven history of scheduling daily deliveries to multiple locations and optimizing loads to keep On Time Delivery high while keeping costs low. Previous management experience preferred. Experience in a corrugated manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred. Proven leadership, coaching, and employee development skills. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to analyze operational data and make informed business decisions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and warehouse or ERP systems. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities.

$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
