Business Administration Productivity software Data-driven decision making Technical Proficiency Implementing lean manufacturing processes Full Job Description Materials Manager Materials Manager Allentown, PA Full-Time Precision Metals Manufacturer $100,000 - $120,000 + Bonus We are working with a world-class manufacturer of precision metal components that has served the heavy truck industry for over 20 years. The Pennsylvania plant's primary products are machined iron and aluminium castings, as well as engine components and subassemblies. The required fixturing is designed and built in-house. We provide our customers with design and redesign engineering assistance, advanced fixture and tooling concepts, and an efficient, as well as many times, very innovative manufacturing process. We are proud to be a world-class supplier to world-class customers like Mack Trucks, Cummins Engine, and International Truck and Engine.
Key Responsibilities include:
Oversees the procurement of all raw materials, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and materials storage. Optimize inventory levels using vendor-managed inventory (VMI) practice. Maintains inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within customer timelines. Ensures accuracy of the perpetual inventory system by conducting frequent cycle counts. Identifies and implements opportunities to reduce supply chain costs. Manages and monitors storage of purchased parts and finished goods. Manages planning parameters (lead time, safety stock, EOQ, etc) Develop strategies to reduce slow moving and obsolete (SLOB) inventory. Establish procedures for conducting an accurate and efficient year-end physical inventory. Performs other related duties as assigned. Develop and execute material requirements plans (MRP) aligned with production schedules based on sales forecasts Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, responsiveness) Develop alternate sources to mitigate risk and reduce cost Oversee receiving, material handling, storage, and shipping functions Ensure FIFO practices and proper material traceability Manage barcoding, ERP transactions, and inventory systems Ensure compliance with safety standards and material handling best practices
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Proficient in inventory management Strong knowledge and expertise with MRP systems Knowledge of Lean manufacturing systems and processes Knowledge of VMI systems, and ability to implement Excellent organizational and planning skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills High sense of urgency and ownership Data-driven decision making
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Administration Five years of experience in material/supply chain management field required Lean training, Six sigma or equivalent Proven leadership experience managing buyers, planners, or warehouse personnel How to
