Global Supply Chain Director Position Summary The Global Supply Chain Director is responsible for leading and executing end-to-end supply chain strategy across a global manufacturing organization. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, including direct ownership of key supplier relationships and procurement activities. The Director will oversee supply chain operations supporting multiple manufacturing and distribution sites worldwide, ensuring cost efficiency, supply continuity, inventory optimization, and high levels of customer service. This position leads a centralized global purchasing organization while maintaining strong alignment with local operational teams. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute a global supply chain strategy aligned with business growth objectives, cost targets, and inventory goals. Drive standardization of supply chain processes across manufacturing and distribution locations. Optimize global logistics, freight, and tariff strategies to reduce total landed costs. Manage procurement activities for critical suppliers and strategic commodity categories. Lead supplier selection, qualification, and onboarding initiatives. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and long-term agreements with key vendors. Establish and manage supplier performance metrics related to quality, delivery, and cost. Resolve supplier-related issues, including quality concerns, shortages, and escalations. Reduce excess and obsolete inventory through effective planning, lifecycle management, and cross-functional collaboration. Develop metrics and reporting to monitor service levels, fill rates, inventory health, and overall supply chain performance. Oversee procurement processes, vendor management, and supply chain data governance. Partner closely with site leadership teams to support operational execution and supply chain objectives. Support engineering changes, product launches, and new product introduction activities. Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure customer delivery and service expectations are met. Leadership Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of purchasing and supply chain professionals. Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training initiatives. Organize and prioritize departmental activities to support business objectives. Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or operations within a global manufacturing environment. Demonstrated success leading strategic supply chain initiatives while maintaining hands-on procurement responsibilities. Experience managing global suppliers and multi-site operations. Strong negotiation, supplier management, and cost-reduction expertise. Proven ability to improve inventory performance and optimize supply chain processes. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting manufacturing environments that produce both consumable and hardware-based products. Knowledge of supply chains involving specialty materials, industrial components, fabricated parts, electronics, and electromechanical assemblies. Experience with global logistics, tariffs, and international trade compliance. Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with ERP systems, including NetSuite or similar platforms. Physical Requirements This position primarily involves office-based work, including extensive computer use and document review. The role also requires periodic movement throughout manufacturing and warehouse environments and may occasionally involve lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds. Travel Requirements Approximately 25% domestic and international travel required.
