Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Materials Manager to join our dynamic supply chain and manufacturing team. Responsibilities Material Planning & Procurement :
Analyze customer forecasts (e.g., EDI) and production schedules to determine material requirements.
Inventory Management:
Track and maintain inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking. Perform regular inventory checks and update records accurately. Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure proper material storage by using
SAP Supplier & Partner Coordination :
Communicate with suppliers to address delays, discrepancies, or urgent requirements. Collaborate with South Korean partners to align on material requirements and resolve operational issues. Facilitate smooth communication between teams in different time zones.
Reporting & Documentation :
Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, material movements, and inventory levels. Generate and update daily/weekly material status reports.
Cross-Cultural Collaboration :
Coordinate with South Korean stakeholders to address material planning, delivery schedules, and any ad hoc requests. Ensure proper understanding and interpretation of business requirements across cultures and languages.
Support Functions :
Assist the team with monthly closing activities and cost analysis. Participate in cross-functional meetings to address material-related issues.
COMPETENCIES

- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Material Planning or closely related field
- Less than one year experience in the automotive industry
- Good math, language and reading skills with attention to detail along with basic computer skills
- SAP ERP Operating System experience preferred
- High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
- Follow instructions for keeping records
- Ability to work overtime and work flexible schedules/shifts
- Bi-Lingual Korean preferred Assist in managing procurement activities using ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle EBS to ensure timely sourcing of materials.
Create and issue purchase orders to local and international suppliers. Monitor supplier deliveries to ensure on-time arrival of materials. Support inventory management initiatives by monitoring stock levels, conducting regular audits, and implementing lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste. Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate contracts, review supplier performance, and foster strong relationships for reliable supply chain operations. Coordinate with production planning teams to align materials availability with manufacturing schedules, utilizing MRP (Material Requirements Planning) tools for accuracy. Oversee warehouse operations and logistics activities, ensuring efficient storage, handling, and distribution of materials. Contribute to demand planning efforts by analyzing consumption patterns and forecasting future requirements to prevent stockouts or excess inventory. Assist in maintaining accurate records of purchasing transactions, inventory movements, and contracts to ensure compliance and transparency. Experience Proven experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle EBS in a materials management or procurement role. Strong understanding of supply chain processes including procurement, inventory control, logistics, and manufacturing workflows. Hands-on experience with inventory management techniques like cycle counting and lean manufacturing practices. Familiarity with production planning tools such as MRP systems and demand forecasting methodologies. Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships effectively while negotiating contracts and monitoring performance. Warehouse experience coupled with knowledge of logistics operations is highly desirable. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
