Job Description

Lapierre USA is the sales and service division of a premier maple sugaring equipment manufacturer located in Swanton, Vermont. The company sells equipment and supplies across the Northern United States through coordination with a team of dealers and sales representatives, supported by Administration and Service teams. We are seeking a Shipping Manager to oversee daily outgoing logistics and ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective delivery of goods. This individual must be highly organized and able to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment while serving as a liaison among Sales, Inventory, and Administration teams to meet customer needs. The Shipping Manager will lead the shipping team, manage carrier relationships, and ensure all outgoing orders are packaged, labeled, and shipped accurately, safely, and on time. This is a working leadership position, and seasonal workflows will require hands-on support to help the team accomplish its goals. This position reports to the General Manager of Lapierre USA and is a member of the leadership team. Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate shipments : Schedule daily outbound shipments and customer pick-up requests. Coordinate directly with customers, dealers, sales staff, and the Administration team to prioritize sales orders, inventory transfers, and delivery instructions. Manage documentation : Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including picking slips, warehouse transfers, bills of lading, and customs forms, while ensuring compliance with domestic and international regulations. Manage carriers : Negotiate with or contact carrier representatives to arrange pick-ups, track shipments, and resolve delays or damages. Work to minimize overall logistics costs by effectively using company delivery resources and third-party carriers. Oversee packaging and loading : Ensure materials and equipment are properly packaged, labeled, and prepared for shipping. Ensure equipment is loaded and secured safely in delivery vehicles to reduce the risk of damage.
Track inventor y:
Coordinate with the Administration team to ensure proper stock levels, document and track inventory movement, and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment. Maintain inventory of necessary packaging and shipping materials. Optimize processes : Improve the pick, pack, and ship process through continuous improvement, effective training, process documentation, and coordination with all business departments.
Required Skills, Requirements, and Qualifications Experience :
Five or more years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations, including a minimum of two years in a leadership role with direct employee supervision.
Education :
High school diploma or GED required; two- or four-year college degree preferred. Software skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Office and carrier portals; experience with ERP software.
Communication :
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak French is a plus.
Attributes :
Excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Physical requirements : Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Certification :
Forklift operator license required. Salary and Benefits Salary will be commensurate with experience and overall fit, ranging from $65,000 to $75,000 per year. 401(k) with company match. Health insurance available.
