Job Description

The City of Dixon is excited to announce the recruitment for the position of Transit Supervisor in the Transit Department. This individual will be responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating transportation operations if the City's transportation programs; coordinating with other governmental and transit agencies regarding intercity and intracity transportation programs; providing supervision to transit staff; and performing a variety of technical level tasks related to their assigned area of responsibility.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the principles and practices related to transit operations; pertinent local, State, and Federal laws, ordinances and rules. In addition will have knowledge on technical report writing, effective customer service skills, modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment. They will also know California Vehicle code applicable to the operation of vehicles for the transportation of passengers. The ideal candidate should also have the ability to organize, implement and direct transit program activities along with being able to explain pertinent program and department policies and procedures. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, and the ability to supervise, lead, motivate, train, and evaluate assigned personnel is also necessary. Finally, the ideal candidate will ensure compliance with FTA regulations and be able to analyze a variety of administrative and technical issues while being able to take effective courses of action.
Education:
Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college with major course work in business administration, public administration, or related field.
Experience:
Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the areas of transit or transportation planning, public transit operations, or a closely related field and one (1) year of coordinating program and supervising staff.
Other Requirements:
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License at the time of appointment and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class B Driver's License with a passenger endorsement and a California Highway Patrol General Public Paratransit Vehicle (GPPV) Certificate within 90 days of appointment. Satisfactory completion of a DMV medical exam including a drug screen and a background check are conditions of employment. Must submit to random drug and alcohol testing. Must submit to fingerprinting process. The ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.
Selection Procedure :

Exam Process :
A limited number of candidates whose applications demonstrate that they are among the best qualified based on related education, training, and experience will be invited to participate in the selection process. This may include one or more assessment components such as a written exam and/or performance exercise, and an oral board interview.
NOTE:
The examination process is subject to change as deemed necessary.
Employment Processing :
Those selected may be subject to DOJ Livescan (fingerprint) clearance, drug screen, and a background investigation. All appointees are required to successfully complete a 12-month probationary period, and in accordance with Federal law, are to provide proof of identity and proof that they may legally work in the United States.
