Sagebrook Home is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Transportation Coordinator to join our team. POSITION SUMMARY
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the smooth movement of freight and goods by managing shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers and internal teams, and resolving logistics challenges. This role serves as a primary point of contact for Bill of Lading (BOL) creation, shipment tracking, and the resolution of shipping delays and discrepancies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Bill of Lading (BOL) Management Prepare, review, and process Bills of Lading (BOLs) accurately for all outbound and inbound shipments. Ensure all BOL documentation complies with carrier requirements, regulatory standards, and company policies. Maintain organized records of all BOLs and shipping documentation for audit and reference purposes. Coordinate with warehouse staff to confirm shipment details prior to BOL issuance. Shipping Request Coordination Process and manage incoming shipping requests from internal departments and external customers. Schedule pickups and deliveries with carriers, freight brokers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers. Communicate shipping timelines, tracking information, and updates to relevant stakeholders. Verify freight classifications, weights, and dimensions to ensure accurate rate quotes and billing. Delay Resolution & Problem Solving Monitor active shipments and proactively identify potential delays or disruptions in transit. Serve as the primary liaison between carriers, customers, and internal teams to resolve shipping issues. Investigate root causes of delays, damages, or lost freight and coordinate corrective action. Escalate unresolved issues to the Logistics Manager with documented findings and recommended solutions. General Logistics Support Maintain and update the Transportation Management System (TMS) with accurate shipment data. Assist with freight invoice auditing and dispute resolution with carriers. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance shipping efficiency and reduce costs. Generate shipping reports and metrics for management review as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred. 1-3 years of experience in transportation, freight coordination, or logistics operations. Demonstrated experience preparing and managing Bills of Lading (BOLs). Familiarity with LTL, FTL, and intermodal freight modes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word). Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS) such as MercuryGate, Oracle TMS, or similar. Knowledge of DOT regulations and freight compliance requirements. Experience working with international shipments and customs documentation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates primarily in an office or warehouse environment. The role may require occasional interaction with loading dock and warehouse areas. Standard business hours apply with occasional need for flexibility during peak shipping periods.
