Job Description:
Schedule:
2of/2off, 3 on/ 2 off, 2 on / 3 off (Panama Schedule)
Shift:
6:00 pm - 6:30 am Experience preferred: Transport RN experience, ICU or Emergency Department Experience 3+ years
  • Maintains professional communication with internal and external contacts, including referring physicians and transferring hospitals.
  • Evaluates hospital bed availability and develop contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted daily operations.
  • Oversees patient placement operations to ensure timely admissions and transfers according to hospital policies and patient care requirements.
  • Continuously reassess patient placement requests and adjust staffing to manage capacity demands across the system.
  • Uses complex acuity algorithms to triage and process transfer requests, ensuring appropriate level of care and safe patient transport.
  • Documents transfer processes accurately in software systems to meet regulatory compliance and improve patient safety.
  • Coordinates placement and transportation for psychiatric patients, ensuring legal documentation is accurate and appropriate.
  • Provides education and training to new employees, participate in staff meetings, and stay current with operational processes.
  • Supports Mission Control Departmental functions and participate in community service activities.
  • Updates and maintains waitlist for patients awaiting placement in a receiving facility, tracks community daily census for placement opportunities.
  • Ensures legal documentation is accurate and appropriate prior to transfer of patients.
  • Verifies insurance benefits on all patients prior to admission and engages Emergency department and medical floor nursing team, Patient Access and Patient Financial Services in the verification process.
  • Assists in training/mentoring new employees, attends staff meetings, and maintains current knowledge of operational processes.
  • Reviews electronic communications to keep abreast of process and departmental changes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills [Required]

  • Proficient in real time documentation in electronic format [Required]
Education:
  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]
  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Field of Study:

    • 2+ relevant acute care experience [Required]
    • Behavioral Health Patient Placement experience [Preferred]
    • Patient Placement experience [Preferred]
    • Transfer Center experience [Preferred]
