This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of approximately 203 vehicles through effective leadership of fleet supervisors, technicians, and maintenance programs. The Regional Fleet Manager will oversee regional maintenance strategy, regulatory compliance, asset utilization, budget management, and maintenance performance metrics while partnering closely with Operations leadership and the VP of Fleet Services to support business objectives. Job Responsibilities Regional Leadership & Team Management Provide leadership and direction to fleet supervisors, maintenance personnel, and third-party service providers across multiple locations. Hire, train, coach, and develop maintenance staff while establishing clear expectations and accountability measures. Conduct performance evaluations and implement corrective action, coaching, and development plans as necessary. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Fleet Maintenance & Asset Management Oversee preventative maintenance and repair programs for approximately 203 passenger vans and buses across the region. Ensure fleet assets are maintained in accordance with OEM specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements. Monitor vehicle availability, equipment downtime, repair trends, and maintenance costs. Implement company strategies to maximize vehicle utilization and extend asset life. Ensure timely completion and documentation of inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and state and local regulatory requirements. Maintain oversight of DVIR processes and ensure repairs are completed and documented in a timely manner. Conduct regular audits of maintenance records, shop operations, and safety practices. Lead investigations related to vehicle failures, accidents, and maintenance-related incidents and implement corrective actions. Performance Management & Continuous Improvement Utilize Fleetio, Motive and other fleet management systems to monitor fleet performance and operational metrics. Track, and report key performance indicators including: fleet availability, preventative maintenance compliance, equipment downtime, labor productivity, parts inventory accuracy, and road call frequency. Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices across all locations. Budget & Inventory Management Develop and manage regional maintenance budgets. Monitor labor, parts, vendor, and repair expenses to ensure cost-effective operations. Oversee parts inventory, purchasing practices, and vendor relationships. Evaluate and negotiate service agreements and vendor contracts when appropriate. Operational Support Provide maintenance updates and KPI reporting to senior leadership. Collaborate with Operations leaders to support service reliability and business growth. Respond to critical maintenance issues and provide leadership during emergency situations as required. Travel regularly between assigned locations to ensure operational consistency and support. Qualifications Experience Minimum 10 years of fleet maintenance or transportation management experience. Minimum 5 years of experience as a senior technician, lead mechanic, or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of management experience overseeing maintenance personnel. Multi-site or regional fleet management experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge & Skills Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, preventative maintenance programs, and asset management. Experience with fleet maintenance management systems (Fleetio, CMMS, or similar platforms). Demonstrated ability to analyze fleet performance data and implement operational improvements. Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and reporting tools. Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and related regulatory requirements. Certifications CAFM (Certified Automotive Fleet Manager) or CTP (Certified Transportation Professional) preferred. ASE certifications strongly preferred. CDL with Passenger Endorsement preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to travel regularly between regional locations. Ability to occasionally inspect equipment in maintenance facilities and operational environments. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform occasional physical inspections of fleet assets.
