Job Description

Job Summary:
As the Terminal Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of Rexing Companies' asset-based trucking division, JR's Expedited Freight, managing all drivers (Local, Regional, OTR, Spotter) and a variety of trailer types and equipment. This role involves ensuring the efficient movement of freight, maintaining driver safety, and supporting continuous improvement efforts in collaboration with leadership and their team. As the Terminal Manager, you play a critical role in managing dispatch operations and driving operational growth for our asset-based trucking division, all while fostering a family-focused company culture.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage local, OTR, and Spotter drivers, and fill in when necessary Oversee dispatch operations and coordinate with the Operations Manager, Project Managers and Dispatcher to ensure timely and safe delivery of freight and fill in when necessary. Conducts routine one on ones, performance evaluations, real time feedback, and manage schedules for drivers and JR's staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations of the terminal(s), ensuring drivers are dispatched on time and with optimal routes, and assist when necessary. Monitor fleet performance, addressing any issues that may arise during transit. Collaborate with the operation and project manager on dispatch, route planning, and driver management. Work on continuous improvement and safety initiatives and help drive company growth. Ensure driver compliance with safety protocols, DOT standard, company polices and all relevant regulations. Manage a variety of trailer types for different routes, ensuring proper use and efficiency. Maintain open communication with drivers to address concerns and monitor performance and DOT safety standards/ compliance. Utilize web-based systems and applications to manage administrative tasks and support driver needs. Generate leads, maintain relationships with existing customers, and continuously explore opportunities to grow the asset-based trucking business by staying up to date with industry trends and operational needs. Assist accounting in approvals of
AP, AR, CC
approvals, and billing issues that may arise. Monitoring cost of operation for JR's Expedited Freight Assist HR in interviews with potential drivers, onboarding of new drivers, pay rate research and approving payroll for all drivers. Ensure all equipment is maintained and in working order, while maintaining stock of supplies crucial for drivers success and purchasing supplies and equipment when necessary. Establish and manage KPI's for the JR's team. Maintain the fuel system and procure fuel as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong leadership skills and decision-making abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse personalities. Attention to detail is critical for success in this role. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Proficient in the use of web-based systems and applications for managing operations. Deep knowledge of the trucking industry, including experience with multiple trailer types. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Work Environment:
Office hours are Monday through Friday. However, as an integral part of the supply chain, our terminal manager is expected to be on call to handle afterhours issues that arise with our drivers.
Travel requirement:
Regular travel between customers and terminals is required.
Education and Experience:
HS Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in fleet management or transportation management. Valid Class A CDL is required
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
