Exempt Job Purpose A Driver Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of a vehicle or fleet during a specific shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant transportation of goods, passengers, or equipment. This role combines driving expertise with managerial oversight, making it essential in logistics, delivery, transportation, and field service industries. Hours are from 2:30-21:30 Training will be on 1st shift for 4-6 weeks.
Key Responsibilities Operational Oversight:
Supervise the safe and efficient operation of vehicles or fleets during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and operational schedules
Driver Management:
Assign and monitor driver tasks, ensure compliance with company procedures, and provide on-the-job training or coaching to improve performance.
Route & Schedule Coordination:
Plan and adjust routes in real-time to meet delivery or service targets, balancing efficiency with safety
Customer Service:
Address customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and maintain high service standards during the shift
Maintenance & Compliance:
Report maintenance needs, and comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations
Inventory & Resource Management:
Track fuel, parts, and supplies, and coordinate restocking to avoid shortages
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare shift reports, log incidents, and reconcile any operational or financial discrepancies
Problem Solving:
Troubleshoot operational issues, such as traffic delays, equipment failures, or driver performance concerns, and implement corrective actions
Requirements:
Skills & Qualifications Strong planning, scheduling, and multitasking abilities to manage multiple drivers and tasks. Strong communication skills are required, including professional telephone etiquette. Ability to lead and motivate drivers, communicate clearly with team members and management, and resolve conflicts. Proven ability to handle unexpected situations and make quick, safe decisions. Understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is required. Proficiency with TMS database systems (e.g., McLeod) is preferred Knowledge in building Manifests is preferred. An associate or bachelor's degree in the field of Communication, Logistics or Supply Chain Management is preferred. A High School Diploma is required.
