None About Modern Modern is a waste and sanitation hauler serving Western New York. We're investing in our operations team and rebuilding how we support our drivers and customers—and this is a chance to join during a period of real change. About the Role This dispatcher owns the day-to-day execution of our commercial, lugger, tractor, and roll-off routes out of Model City. You'll be the single point of coordination between drivers, the maintenance shop, and our customer-facing coordinators—making real-time calls on route sequencing, exceptions, and equipment moves so our trucks keep running and our customers get serviced on time. Customer-facing follow-up is handled by a separate coordinator team, so you can stay focused on the road. What You'll Do Build and release the daily route schedule for commercial, lugger, tractor, and roll-off drivers Assign loads and adjust sequencing in AMCS Tower as conditions change throughout the day Monitor driver locations and progress; reroute around delays, breakdowns, and customer access issues Serve as the radio/phone point of contact for drivers in the cab—answer questions, clear roadblocks, and keep them productive Coordinate with the maintenance shop on mechanical downtime, equipment swaps, and availability Document missed pickups, extras, and exceptions in AMCS so the coordinator team can follow up cleanly Manage end-of-day driver check-in and confirm route completion Escalate driver performance issues, safety incidents, and recurring service problems to the Operations Support Manager Cover other lines of business during PTO and absences What Success Looks Like in 90 Days You can build and release a clean daily route board across all four lines without supervision Drivers know to call you first, and you resolve most cab-side issues in under five minutes Route completion stays above target, with documented reasons for any exceptions The coordinator team gets clean handoffs—no chasing you for missing information
What You Bring Required:
2+ years of dispatch or routing experience in waste, freight, LTL, or a similar logistics environment High school diploma or GED Comfortable making fast decisions with incomplete information and switching context all day Strong written and verbal communication—drivers, shop, coordinators, and management all need to hear from you clearly Detail-oriented; comfortable working in routing software and spreadsheets every day Strongly preferred: Hands-on experience with AMCS Tower (or a comparable waste/recycling operations platform) Experience dispatching commercial front-load, roll-off, or lugger routes specifically Familiarity with DOT hours-of-service and basic driver compliance rules Why Modern Stable, family-owned company with a clear growth plan Real input on how the ops team runs—we're rebuilding and want ideas from the people doing the work Standard daytime hours, no overnight shifts Benefits at
